Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Feb 27, 2006 orange body with a thick head that did leave nice webbing on the glass.aroma and flavor were of citurs and pine hops.this is a excellent ipa for sure. FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Feb 26, 2006 22oz. bottle. Red amber with a medium sized white head. Grapefruit, lemon verbena, and sweet malt in the aroma. Lusterious sweet fruity hop flavors; Peach, lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit. Some biscuity and sweet malt underpinnings. Slight astringent resin in the finish, accompanied by citrus and floral hop residuals. Mouthfeel is medium full, builds to a heavy dryness. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 24, 2006 Updated: Mar 29, 2006Bottled. Clear copper colour, average head. Rich citric grapefruit aroma. Dyish and completely dominated by juicy hops. The maltiness is firm, but apart from some notes of cookies it doesn’t lend to much flavour to the beer, just ody. The finish continues to be predominantly hop aromatic, even though there is a great deal of bitterness. An uncomplicated but very enjoyable beer. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Feb 23, 2006 Well, I had been looking forward to this for some time and am a little disappointed. First off, it is a perfect light brown amber in color with a nice head and oozing lace. Citric aroma greets you pleasantly. The flavor, however, is differently all together. Harsh and coarse, the hop assault is unrelenting. The C-hop citrus is there, but then the zing grabs you. But the biggest offender is the taste that an aspirin just dissolved in your throat. I never know how aspirin-flavor can be desired. Know I like my beers hoppy and bitter, but this is astringent. Bummer. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Feb 21, 2006 Updated: Apr 24, 2006Pours a nice deep amber color. Aromas of hops/hops/citrus. Strong hop flavors with malts and a dry finish. Reid (1085), Salem, Oregon, USA Feb 21, 2006 comes in a 22 oz bomber.I liked the label with Stonehenge drapped in hop vines.
The beer is a dark orange, slightly hazed appearance. Has an absolutlly gorgeous light tan ,frothy head.
Wow a very large aroma to this one, very fruity and piney..hoparama..quite lovelly.
This is indeed a hopheads IPA.The taste is around 90% hops in all their glory but with an underpinning of solid malts.
Very nice on the palate..good long lasting and pleasant bitterness.
I found this an excellent IPA. always knew Deschutes had it in em to produce a classic American IPA and they have. Recommended.
leethorsell (3), Bend, Oregon, USA does not count Feb 20, 2006 Got to give this one an A++. I really love IPA’s and this one to drink. I must say that I am a local here in Bend, Oregon where Deschutes is located and this is an outstanding beer. I see that some reviews were not like my high praise. All I can say is "try this one for sure". The hops really jump out and tingle your tounge. The best! IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Feb 18, 2006 Bottle Pours a hazy slightly orange auburn. Very nice, dense offwhite head with real staying power. Aroma is very carmelish and lots of piney hops. Sweet malt flavors, but subdued. Quite strong bittering with grapefruit pith notes. Full heavy mouth feel and long, bitter aftertaste. Bitter bu not as much flavor as I had hoped. Can’t go far wrong with Deschtues though...
