Commercial Description:
Who knows what inspired the ancients to build Stonehenge--or what inspired us to build Hop Henge in its likeness. But build it we did, out of wrapped bales of whole-flower hops out on the brewery lawn. Like the rest of the Bond Street Series, Hop Henge highlights the creativity and curiousity of our brewers. Bolder than its English ancestors, with huge hops and a bitter finish, this IPA is no wallflower.

NOTE: This is the original version. In 2007 it was bumped up to an IIPA. See that entry here.

Frothy. irregular foam and a creamy brown liquid. This is probably my first 2 for appearance. Apples, bushy hops aromas, some acetic flavors, how old is this? Definitely some odd English malts going on here. Some oxidation and tub aromas. Pencil eraser and grapefruit. It’s growing on me but this is a weird animal.

Blind rating, American Beer Tastings at Sk8viking´s. Pours a clear red amber with a tanned foamy head. Smells nice of hops and pineneedles. Lots of grapefruity hops flavors. Nice high hops level. Light bodied. Strong hoppy bitter finish.

Pours a thick yellow with orange tones. head is white and thin. nice hopy nose. Hops didn’t dominate as much as i’d have liked them too but still a nice IPA that you can easily get in the NW.

Cloudy orange colour with a small dense beige head. Hoppy aroma with pine and fruity notes along a light sweetness. Hoppy, pine bitter flavor with some fruit and a malty sweetness.

Bottled. Hazy dark golden in colour with a small head. Piney and hoppy - feels kinda strong and alcoholic. Somewhat flowery and soapy. Crazy and wild but in a well balanced and great way.

Bomber thanks to Droopy49. This was on my want list for awhile. Thanks Juan! Pours a beautiful dark copper, slight haze, and a nice thick frothy off white head. Spotty lacing. From the bottle, the aroma is very fruity with some herbal notes. In the glass, the caramel and toasty malt aromas blend in. Nice british malt backbone of caramel, nuts, and tea. That is counterbalanced by soft bitter herbal hops. Orange zest like kick comes out on the herbal hop finish. A mild pepper like spiciness lingers shortly at the back of the mouth. Overall, very solid and enjoyable. I really enjoy when west cost hop schedules blend with british malt characteristics.

A hazy orange beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty and alcoholic, but also with notes of peaches tending to be over ripe. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of peaches, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is surprisingly thin.

Bottle. Hazy orange amber colour with a big tan head. Caramel malty, citrus, floral hop aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry finish.
