Apples, bushy hops aromas, some acetic flavors, how old is this? Definitely some odd English malts going on here. Some oxidation and tub aromas. Pencil eraser and grapefruit. It’s growing on me but this is a weird animal.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2009 This beer is why Deschutes and most of the other above premium West Coasters micros, in it for awhile breweries can hold their heads high and feel like they started this thing, the big hop, big bodied beers that everybody east of here is trying to be. This is big hops with the perfect balance of malts, making this bomber at 8%+ go down smooth like candy. What seperates this is the balance of the beer, hops, malts, then a nice dry hop finish that lingers. Not to boozy, but also there to punch you in the nuts to let you know what’s up. Good stuff, kinda pissed I left it in my fridge so long to be possibly stolen from my drunk friends. RSRIZZO (1373), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jul 29, 2009 Had this beer on 2/13/2006. Aroma is very hoppy, its just full of a fresh hop scent. Color is a hazy light brown. Taste is hoppy and citrusy. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes on with a strong hop flavor and a citrus like taste that is way too strong. On the end is a full bitterness. Overall I feel this is just too hoppy. yemenmocha (537), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Pours hazy golden to brongze color with light tan head that retains relatively well.
Nose is grapefruity, perhaps some miscellaneous citrus.
Huge hops but also large malt component in the flavor profile. Less hoppy and candied with age (11 months on my bottles). It’s coming around to an almost barleywine like character.
Rather easy drinking for a DIPA. hayduke (1725), Eureka, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 3, 2009 This may be retired, but I picked up this bottle in Bend, Oregon a couple weeks ago. It poured a really attractive orange with a big white head and thick lacing rings. Nose of caramel malts with lots of various hops including floral, pine, and citrus that assault your nose. Great creamy and oily mouthfeel. Flavor is actually not a powerful as the nose but is very nicely bitter and the finish is the same. A simply fantastic beer. Beardface (1037), Eugene, Oregon, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2008 Beautiful orange pour with a great white head and nice brussels lace lingering. Excellent mesh of multiple hop flavors: pine, grapefruit, some floral and a mild but nice toffee malt backbone. Extremely tasty, as is the IIPA version. Rciesla (4064), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 30, 2008 This is one smashingly awesome ipa. BrianK thank you my man. Awesome bottle art would have looked great next to my pp high tide. A beautiful orange pale body with a rocky white head. Fresh hops swirl in a piney, citrus, floral, grapefruit of an ester-storm on your taste buds. A remarkable mellow ethanol breathes through the citrus notes and gently expressed throughout the lightly acidic grapefruit. This is awesome! doboy (208), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Poured with a great head, nice lace on the glass. It was a clean light copper color. The mouthfeel was just right. IT had a good bittering of hops on the finish.
