Dark brown with a bit of red when held up to the light, almost black. Thin brown head that disappears quickly. Aroma is roasted malt, citrus, stone fruit. Taste is malty, sweet at first with a bitter finish. Some alcohol in the finish, a hint of cough syrup. Mouth feel is a bit thin.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Very dark brown with a thick tan head. Nose is ripe with hops; citrus and florals. Light chocolate and some roast. Very nice. The flavor is hop forward with mostly florals competing with a roasty background. Citrus and cocoa are again lightly present. Very nice.

On tap. Pours a dark black with a medium tan head and leaves good lacing. Smells of citrus, roasted malt, and chocolate . Tastes of all the same things I mentioned above with a good coffee taste and a big hop kick. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry finish. Overall this is a very good cda and deschutes did a great job all around.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Its Black with a thin head. Roasty malt, almost coffee like, with Northwest style hop aromas. Very tasty burnt roasted caramel semi sweet malts giving away to very flavorful Cascade hops, but still backed up by big malts. Clean dry finish. Very good!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Super dark, pitch black, brown head...looks like an imperial stout. Has more robust malt than most IPAs. Thereís a lot of chocolate and rich roasty malt but also a strong hop profile, particularly on the back. Bitter refereshing finish thatís well balanced and very enjoyable. Great dinner complement or single beer night option.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a jet black color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops. It smells light and delicious. The taste is so much different than the aroma it confused me at first. It looks like a dark bitter stout, smells like a light IPA, and tastes somewhere in-between the two. It has a burnt malt flavor, with some hop and black malt biterness. Itís a complex taste of dark bitter chocolate, coffee, and hops. Itís a little fruitier than it looks but not as fruity as it smells if that makes sense. Overall very good, not too rich and thick, just light enough, just bitter enough, black IPA.
