Bomber from Secret Santa. Thanks man! Very dark brown pour with a big tan head, that settles into a thin tan film. Aroma is somewhat surprising. Strong aroma of spruce, pine, grass. Mild mint. Bright, and strong, nice aroma. Flavor of pine, spruce, melted dark chocolate, cream. Some citrus, some tangerine peel, some resin. Delicious. Easily one of the best of the style. Medium bodied. Nice carbonation. Finishes on a minty pine note. Lovely.

Good looking. very black with a light brown head, great lacing. Smell is really nice, so hoppy I was blasted with hops just when I popped the top! In the glass it’s nicely hoppy too, with plenty of roasty malts too. Taste is amazing too, great job on this one. The roasted malts are well accented with grapefruit and floral notes, and a blasting array of perfectly proportioned hop flavors. Seriously, they hit the nail on the head with this CDA. Body is pretty rich and thick, feels like a bigger beer than it is. Amazing. Definitely a must try for hop lovers, CDA lovers, and even IPA lovers.

Smells like a beautiful ipa with a bit of maltiness. The color is very dark and has medium head retention of a nice creamy brown color. The taste is hoppy like an ipa cascade hops are my fav. There is also a coffee malt taste at the end and the bitterness compliments this sweet coffee chocolate taste. The body is light/medium body and i was expecting a heave body and a very sweet taste. Overall a great beer. Worth a buy and rebuy for sure.

kathouse (305) - Nevada, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Very dark with a foamy off white head. Heavy citrus and grapefruit aromas hide the chocolate malts. High hop bitterness is the first taste followed by more of the same. Very low malt support. Finishes bitter as well.

Bottle - Chocolate with hops on the nose. Jet black light head. Heavy hop profile with a prevaling bitterness, the malt really lost. This would be an OK IPA but it misses as a complex hopped dark.

Bottle. Pours a nice brown color. Aroma has a decent amount of maltiness. Taste has a little harshness to it. Get a little bit of burnt caramel in the taste too. Overall a decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a thin brown quickly fading head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, lactose, citrus and roasted malt. Taste of roasted malt, citrus, dark malts and something odd I can’t pin point. Mild bitterness on the finish.

Bottle. Coffee, chocolate & hops on the nose. Pitch black with tan head. Starts off with bittersweet chocolate coffee & moves to hops. Good finish, but a little bitter.

Very dark IPA. Very little if any opacity. Pleasant but faint aroma. It has a smooth dark head. Taste is not very bitter with definite coffee tones. Another great beer from a great brewery!

Dark pour, almost black with a tannish head...hoppy with citrus and piney aroma...grapefruity and roasty malt flavor. One of my favorite CDAs.

Pours very dark - almost black with off white head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, grapefruit and cherries. Taste matches the aroma. Medium bodied - Good mouthfeel. Overall, quite enjoyable, but not the best black IPA out there.
