COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the Bond Street Series. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 270 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers' farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to the 50 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.5 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

An excellent fresh hop. With the amount of pepper in the nose and on the tongue, its seems almost like a rye. Pale golden and hazy appearance with a fast disappearing head. Medium bodied with some caramel, bread, citrus and more spice. Got this one from Nick in 2012.

Tap at Deschutes Brewery & Public House, Portland - 07/11/12. Clear mid amber with a thin white head. Good lacing follows. Nose is caramel malts, light hops, barley. Tastes of bitter hops, caramel malts, touch of pine. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle - Malts, grass and light citrus hops on the nose. Clear orange with a thick head that doesn’t quit. Light and refreshing with some nice mid bitterness. A bit of citrus and resin, but not the explosive flavor I would expect from the description. A nice well balanced beer, but not a great one.

Amber pour with a thick, frothy white head. Big, juicy aroma - grapefruit, orange, with a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied, maybe a bit thin. The fresh hops are noticeable in the sense it’s more oily. Nice.

Poured orange and clear out of a bottle. I've read about the great aromas, but I'm not getting that. Somehow I'm also missing out on the good hoppy flavors as well. I have to rate this as average. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy dark orange pour with long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is mostly floral and citrus hops with some bready maltiness present as well. Taste is citrus hops with some fruitiness and bready malts. Mouthfeel is just a tad oily throughout. Overall, a fairly tasty and easy-drinking APA.

12oz bottle, pours brownish orange with some lacing. The aromas are a mix of Orange blossoms and lemons. Great flavors, Orange and lemons blended with honey like malts, giving me thoughts of a dreamsicle. Easy to drink. Mild bitters in the finish. Very good!

Aroma is grassy hops, citrus and slightly musty. The flavor is grapefruit, citrus/orange, very deep fruit and mild juicy notes all around, malts and very bitter in the finish.

Deschutes Hop Trip - Pours to a terrific head that lasts long. Lacing is everywhere and also lasts long. Aroma - pine at first, then the usual Deschutes "banana bread" type malt, along with a nice bit of grapefruit citrus. Flavor - definite hop presence, yet balanced well with the aforementioned malt. The finish is the best part - the bitter hops and chewy sweet malt really blend memorably. Not a weak pale ale by any means, it’s a great example of the APA style, better than their Mirror Pond and on par with their Red Chair - maybe even a little better.

Big thanks again to mfavoino(Matt) for the beer. 12 oz. bottle served in a Deschutes tulip. A: Pours a clear orange color with a frothy white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring that leaves some soapy lace down the glass. S: Sweet fruity yeast notes with a pale malts and a little grassy hops. T: Pale malts, grassy hops and a nice sweet fruit flavor. M: Light bodied with a medium-high carbonation level. Easily drinkable. O: Very light and easy drinking. I could drink several in one sitting and not get tired of it. Serving type: bottle
