Part of the Bond Street Series. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 270 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers' farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to the 50 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.5 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

Pours a darker amber color with white head. Light citrus, floral notes, and just a hint of pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice caramel malt note that lets you know itís a pale ale and not and IPA.

Not bad, just not the best beer in the world. There are several other Deschutes beers I prefer.

Look: pours a dark Amber. Clear with a white head. Smell: tropical fruit flavor. Juicy fruit gum. Tangerines. Sweet malt. Taste: bitter up front. Tangerines. Passion fruit. Feel: dry on the palate. Medium carbonation. Gets more dry as it warms up. Overall: good beer. Love the aroma. Flavor is similar to the aroma just not as strong. First Drank: home 11/7/14

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2014 On draft. One of the best pale ales Iíve had. Strikingly complex for a 5.5% ABV pale ale. Aroma of flowers and pine resin. Flavors of lots and lots of floral hops, faint grass, chewy dark chocolate, caramel and spice. Creamy mouth-feel. Could drink this for days.

12iz bottle shared. Poured a medium orange with an off white head. Aroma is medium malt base with lots of hops. Fresh orange/ citrus with a little pine on the end. The flavor is rich and creamy, very smooth and unexpectantly light on the bitterness. A very tasty pale ale. Do get a little orange on the back end of this. Overall very tasty.

Hazy orange-ish with a dense cm of white head. Aroma is orangey hops, and taste is the same, with mild crackery malt. $12oz/$2

On tap at Brixieís Beer Bar in Brookfield, IL., dispensed to a shaker showing a clear, amber color, with a healthy layer of light tan head froth that persisted, but turned cakey, and lots of curtainy/doily-like lacing coating the glass. The nose was light at first, maybe a bit too cold, but soon expressed some smooth, subtle toastiness to the malt, pine, with a bit of dankness & cattiness, ripe fruit as pit variety, lesser citrus, and some greenery/grassiness. Medium+ bodied, with suitable carbonation for the occasion, the taste offered a pronounced, lingering, earthy, and resinous hop bitterness, and decent malt content to smooth the edges. A nicely constructed Pale.

Nearly clear dark copper to amber pour with a 1 finger, creamy off white head that has great retention. Aroma is floral and citrus hops, a little pine sweet caramel and tart fruitiness. Flavor is caramel, light nutty notes, biscuit, a little dry leafiness, some bread, pine, light cardboard oxidization. Light to medium body, light, blanketing and sharp carbonation, creamy to syrupy entry, thin, but a bit syrupy and oily finish. Good stuff overall, not as grassy as some fresh hop beers.

Fresh bottle poured into a pub glass. The beer is a mostly clear burnt orange amber with a fingers worth of white head that shrinks down and leaves ok lacing. Aroma is candied tropical fruits. Lots of tropical and citrus fruit but there is also a sweet, sugar like smell. It reminds me of pixie sticks. Itís also slightly musty near the end. First sip is very juicy with the same citrus/tropical theme and a lot do pine. Itís a little bready but kind of like stale hard bread. Mouthfeel is quenching and refreshing. Overall a good fresh hop beer.
