COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Part of the Bond Street Series. This Fresh Hop Pale Ale is all about celebrating the hop harvest in the fall. Fresh picked hops have to be added to the brew immediately and in abundance. Roughly 270 pounds of Crystal hops from Doug Weathers' farm outside Salem, Oregon will be added to the 50 barrel batch in addition to some dry kilned whole flower hops. That adds up to approximately 5.5 pounds of hops per barrel brewed.

Bottle. Deep amber with a thick off-white head that lasts OK. Soothing aroma of sweetish biscuity malt, grapefruit, oranges and their blossoms, pine. That’s pretty much the taste too with lingering piney and peppery bitterness. Starts a bit sweet, ends a bit bitter. Nothing terribly fancy about this, just good ringing flavours.

Bottle (in NZ). Aroma lite, but the palate is well balanced between the malty sweetness and the hoppy bitterness, with soft orangey-citrus flavours and a piney-peppery finish. A more subtle APA, but I’ve always preferred my Americans subtle...

Big grapefruity and spicy hoppy nose with some decent malt character, the nose makes the beer seem like it is going to be a very big imperial IPA. The hops a very lively in the mouth, but not as fresh as I would have like to sample this beer. The mouth is deceptively light compared to the nose, which is perhaps a bit of a let down. Moderate bitter finish. I like fresh hop beers and this is decent, but hardly top of class.

Bottle. Poura a clear amber with a small frothy white head that leaves sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a floral and cascade hops. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet hop with citrus and caramel. Easy to drink, a good American pale ale from Deschutes.
