3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, USA - FEB 13, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 14, 2007 Bomber with the code 275 094OG on the left lower part of the label, from stoutlover72, consumed on 1/28/07 Bottle conditioned, though fairly well-filtered prior to that, the beer shows a medium-bright copper-peach body with a medium-sized white head that recedes slowly to cover, leaving light lacing in patches, behind. Clarity is high, carbonation is quite profuse in the liquid in small streams. Very dry nose, extremely so. Lemon-like notes add plenty of bitterness, while hints of tangerine juice and mimosas give a slight sugary edge as the pale malt sugars are lightly felt. Definite toastiness, though not overdone, makes things lightly sour towards the end, while floral notes from the hops are quite heady without being overly bitter or fruity. Interesting. Some soapiness and an almost bubble-gum and lemon note that I associate with crystal hops seems pervasive, as does a plasticy yeast. Definitely lightly phenolic on the end. No alcohol noted, and I enjoyed it, but it’s just way too dry and leafy, without enough round or bright flavors to give it more depth. The body seems filtered from the nose, not having that sumptuous, full aroma of solid malt backing. Hops are definitely well-done to start, with cherries, lemons, tangerines and plenty of floral notes all dancing about. Honey is oddly matched with a bit of grainy, almost biscuit-like character, as the malt flavors pass through. The finish is alive with yeast plastics and a crunchy, diacetyl note of popcorn (not overly buttery or burnt though). Couldnt get passed that. The carbonation is very forceful and dosent seem to settle out easily or provide for a very creamy body, though perhaps that has something to do with the extreme attenuation, light toastiness and filtration. I really feel like I need to try another bottle of this, as I don’t see any of this in other reviews (do see the dryness though). I’m not a big fan of crystal hops though, so that may have something to do with it.

Found an old tasting note:
orange colour with a fairly carbonated head. very floral hoppy aroma and a bit of leafy/vegetal note as well. I marked down that it had a sort of yeasty/banana note. medium bodied brew with creamy feel and slightly hoppy finish.

From notes. This guy pours a nice Burnt orange with a one finger white head that leaves really nice lacing.
Nice tropical fruit aroma, tangerine, pineapple, and apricots. There are plenty of nice malt notes backing up all of those hops.
Very nice flavor, the tropical fruit holds pretty strong, lots of tangerine with some nice malt in the body, clean bitter finish. Very tasty. The body is on the light side of medium, nice full carbonation. Overall an awesome brew, really tasty.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 duaneh (100) - - MAR 16, 2012
orange amber with a nice off-white head that is well-retained. Lacing sticks. The smell is of tangerines and grapefruit with pine and some grainy malt/slightly caramel backing. The taste is citric, pine and a carmelish grainy malt backing.

Overall a great beer. I love the hop mythos of the field to kettle in 4 hours. It makes a good (true) story. Aroma is sweet with notes of pine and citrus. Front of the pallete is tangy with great hop character. After taste is slightly astringent with fruit characteristics.

Draft at MarCellars. Orange-amber with a lasting quarter inch of head. Nose is orange, caramel, fresh green herbs. Flavor is the same. Light-medium body is well balanced, has medium carbonation and is very drinkable.

Aroma of grapefruit. I like this okay for a pale ale, which is not my favourite style, but I’d drink this one.

Refreshing new interpretation of a PA. Served a bit too cold, small off white head that settled to a light cover which lasts and lots of lace. Color is a clear amber. Aroma is a little mild and not much indication of the great itegrated flavors to come. Those flavors tend towards slightly bittersweet, wet hay, a little bit of weed, caramel and a crazy juxtaposition. Body is bang on. Finish has proof of greatness cause I want more. Excellent, drink the fuck out of it beer.
