If the descriptions above help you then more power to you. Personally, I love each and every seasonal brew. Rarely is there a flat out YUCK. The Hop Trip Ale is a joy and pleasure to see in the fridge. What a nice quaf! Yes it is a pale ale. Yes it is hoppy. And yes you will not be disappointed if you are a hop head and are not a snoot. Enjoy with extreme prejudice!
sirpsycho (166), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange, off white head. Aroma is subdued citrus hops, touch of malt. Flavor is hops, citrus and pine. Not overpowering, bitterness is very mild. bulletrain76 (531), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 3, 2008 22oz bottle. Orange amber color with a sticky head and some sediment in the last pour. malty aroma for the most part, but a nice citric hop quality blends in the background, despite this being way beyond the age where you would expect the fresh hops to still make an impact. The flavor is a clean, fruity maltiness with a little hop balance. Almost falls on the less hoppy English side after all these months. Nice fruitiness adds character. This is definitely an elegant pale ale. Tastes quite malty and balanced with the time that has elapsed since last fall’s hop harvest, but still quite nice. I’ll definitely be getting some of this fresh when it comes out again. Nik925 (92), California, USA Jun 8, 2008 Dry n crisp. Hop flavor grows during the sip minimal bitterness great flavor. Great red color. A great brewery doing a fresh hop is a recipe for success. Zinister (855), Houston, Texas, USA Jun 3, 2008 Typical IPA color with nice head. Nose of sweet malt, pine and floral hops...subtle though. Hops are fresh and more floral than on the nose, with rich hop feeling in the middle of the tasting. Finishes somewhat bitter, but in a nice balanced style. puggy211 (313), cordova, Tennessee, USA May 27, 2008 I very much enjoyed this, probably because it really hit the spot. Fresh hopy, citrus, pine, and caramel aroma. Not bitter, but very smooth and refreshing. Lots of fresh hop flavor, caramel, orange, pine and citrusvery nice!
