Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Very solid, quaffable IPA, a great introduction to microbrews. Pours beautifully.

12oz bottle. Brown-amber color. Brewery wort and fresh hop aroma. Full bodied, classic West Coast IPA characteristics. Floral and bitter hop characteristics, well balanced by a nice malt backbone. Incorporates a little more dryness and fruity characteristics than most WIPAs, a very nice beer.

12 oz. bottle in trade from douglas88- many thanks! Served in shaker- poured a transparent brownish amber, low carbonation, 3mm white head formed and tried to lace. Hearty aroma of pine, grapefruit, and floral hops everywhere. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt has been slightly roasted, bitterness in the middle followed by an acidic finish. Slightly different take on the style, but still very enjoyable.

Dark in color for an IPA. Medium head. Tastes of roasted malt. The bitterness is slightly different tasting.

Unusual, and off balance. The malts don’t work for me. There’s an astringent, charcoal like bitterness that I can’t stand.

Amber beer with an off-white head. Aroma is faint grapefruit. Flavor is roasted malt and grapefruit bitterness. Finish is bitter. Good IPA.

Bottle from BSF Bar, GBBF ’08. Amber with a small off white head. Aroma was initially grapefruit, later revealing sweet malts. Piney hop and malt taste in which creamy, buttery sweetness blends with sharp bitterness. Beautiful.
