Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Bottle. Smells flowery with a hop scent to it. A nice IPA that pours a nice copper color with a good head.

12 oz bottle from Safeway, Port Angeles and Enniskillen; Nose of very citrusy hops with some background caramel; hazy amber-orange with a medium beige head that doesn’t last long; flavor is hop bitterness with some pine and caramel. Finish of course is bitter!

6 pack bottles, found in Anchorage, July 9. This beer is super hoppy with citrus flavors and I found it very enjoyable. My better half only got 1.5 beers out of the entire 6 pack. If I could get this where we live I would buy it regularly.

Very nice IPA. Aroma was good with an abundance of citrus nhops and a light hint of caramel malt. Pour was a nice deep dark amber/light brown with a 1 finger near tan head. Taste was nice and mouth puckering bitter. Strong caramel malt in the front that leaves quickly. The hops fill the cheeks and throat with bitter citrus and pine. Decent carbonation. Thanks Secret Santa!

Pours a slightly cloudy amber color. It needed a bit of help to develop a head. Has a very fragrant citrus aroma, with a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor is initially dominated by citus and walnut, but this is followed by a strong, bitter, stale hop flavor that almost ruins the beer for me. The bitternes is more than made up for by a pleasant, creamy mouthfeel. Nice and silky. Overall, this is very drinkable and enjoyable.

A good IPA. Doesn’t quite have the full flavor of Big Sky or Avery though. Very satisfying and better than most IPA’s.

On-tap at Churchill’s. Pours copper/amber color with a good sized offwhite head, some lace. Smells subdued, caramelly, earthy hoppy, a bit grassy. Tastes hoppy and malty sweet caramelly, bitterness hits toward the finish, slight grass flavor. FLavors and bitterness linger better than I remember. Medium body, good carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a medium off-white head. Hoppy, flowery aroma. Earthy grapefruit and pine hops dominate the flavor, balanced by rich caramely malts. Super drinkable, tasty IPA.
