Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

A good IPA. Doesn’t quite have the full flavor of Big Sky or Avery though. Very satisfying and better than most IPA’s.

On-tap at Churchill’s. Pours copper/amber color with a good sized offwhite head, some lace. Smells subdued, caramelly, earthy hoppy, a bit grassy. Tastes hoppy and malty sweet caramelly, bitterness hits toward the finish, slight grass flavor. FLavors and bitterness linger better than I remember. Medium body, good carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a medium off-white head. Hoppy, flowery aroma. Earthy grapefruit and pine hops dominate the flavor, balanced by rich caramely malts. Super drinkable, tasty IPA.

Bottle bought in Jackson, Wyoming. Pours a clear amber with a medium white head that dies down. The aroma is tons of malt and some floral and citrus hops. The taste is quite bitter, hops mixed with a rich caramel and smooth malt. Very nice finish that is sweet and lingers bitterness on your palate. A very enjoyable IPA.

Amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is a caramel maltiness with a subdued northwest hoppy character. Taste is an initial sweetness followed by the maltiness, and a slight almond like character.

Bottle. Beers of the World Live, NEC. Golden with a small head. Aromas are peppery wit pine and herbal notes. Warming alcohol. Quite low malts. Flavours are light malts with bitter green pine. Floral and peppery with evident alcohol.

Absolutely beautiful looking beer. Pours a dark, cloudy crimson, with a respectable head. Aroma is typical of NW IPAs. Flavor is heavilly hoppy and way too bitter for my tongue. Palate is slightly fizzy, and really dry. Overall this one isn’t my cup of tea.

Bottle from Beerfest at Sudwerk in Davis, CA. It reminded me of one of my favorite IPAs: Green Flash. Very fruity, hoppy and bitter. I was pleasantly surprised.
