voota (761), Melbourne, Australia May 25, 2008 I think this stuff is better in the bottle than on tap, the tap version seemed flat and thin in the body> this is the rate for the bottled version...
Hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma seems a bit Belgian in character, a fair bit of spicy yeast character, lots of piney hops, vanilla and dark candy sugar. Full, bitter body, perhaps a bit heavy in the carbonation but otherwise the mouthful suits the style really well. Flavour carries more belgian spicy phenols, piney hops and some subtle vanilla and woody notes. Finish is hoppy and bitter, with the malt body fading quite fast. Really liked the different yeast characteristics... they really separate this from other american IPA’s I’ve tried. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA May 25, 2008 bottle. Pours a nice light orange-amber with a small cream head. Head of grapefruit, citrus, pine, and little malt character. Medium-light body, with a crisp dry finish. Flavor is strong of sour grapefruit, lemon, and light caramel. Finishes with citrus sour notes. I have to say, to this date I have not tried an IPA so unabashedly loaded with tart citrus fruit flavor. I have to say that I like it. The carbonation may be a tad intense, surely intended to complement (mask?) some of the more bitter flavors. A bold IPA with a punchy flavor.) 3.7. topherh (878), Kearney, Missouri, USA May 24, 2008 Pours coppery with a very hoppy aroma. Flavor is citrus hops and malt. Nicely balanced, not overpowering. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA May 23, 2008 Citrus and pine dominate the nose with hints of honey malts. Pours light amber or a darker blond. Hoppy but slightly sweet, with hints of maple. It finishes dry, not bad! Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA May 18, 2008 Sampled at West Coast Brew Fest ’08
~ Pours a light golden colour with creamy with lasting head.
~Nice scent of fresh grassy hops.
~Strong bitter hop taste with light sweetness.
~ This is a good IPA. Easy to drink. Could use some more. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA May 17, 2008 On tap at West Coast Brewfest. This amber ale poured wth a decent beige head. It’s very hoppy, but otherwise a rather standard brew. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA May 13, 2008 Clear amber with a wispy 1" head. Nice spicy hop, yeasty aroma. Medium body. A lightly sweet malt flavor is quickly ushered out by a spicy hop bitterness. A solidly balanced, easy drinking pale ale here. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA May 9, 2008 Updated: Aug 28, 2009Pours a clear copper with a foamy off-white head that lasts a while. Lots of citrus in the aroma, most notably grapefruit. Malty on first taste, and then the hops come through. A good, not overdone, IPA.
