Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

A very hoppy, tasty West Coast IPA, my favorite type. One of the better, if not the best IPA, available in a bottle in Las Vegas. Plenty of kick and fruity/Hoppy after-taste. Very enjoyable.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007. A hazy amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet grassy and grapefruity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hops lending it notes of grass and grapefruits, the grapefruit also gives it a slight acidity, before the dry bitter finish sets in.

Pretty decent for the style. Has some biscuity maltiness and bit of marmalade apricot type fruitiness, zesty bitterness, would make a decent session IPA.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a thick off-white head that left nice lacing. Aroma of citrus (orange and light grapefruit), and some light leafy, grassy hops. Flavor consists of sweet caramel malt leading into some lightly bitter, earthy hops with a light hint of fruit (apricot) on the finish. Much less citrus in the flavor than in the nose. Solid IPA, but nothing special.

12oz bottle Pours out a nice IPA amber topped with a cream white head. A nice crisp aroma of hops and light malt. Tast of nice bitter hops. A very nice everyday drinking IPA.

Draft at Yard House, Honolulu. PNW hops and some crystal malts in the nose, amber body, medium white head. Reasonably balanced WC IPA, nothing special here.

Poured a hazy amber with a one-finger head that stayed thick for a while. Typical IPA aroma, not as pungent as others, with orange and grapefruit evident. Well balanced taste that had a boost of hops after a second on the tongue. Some citrus flavors, but not overwhelming. Malts gave it a nice balance as caramels came through. Slightly resinous mouthfeel, but overall a complex and very enjoyable drink.

Bottled. Rich and c-hopped nose. A nice dry, pine rich, baby ass clean flavor...rounded out mouthfeel and lingering bitter finish. A nice - in between type of IPA...not too small, and nowhere near mind blowing. All-around, a pleasant and satisfying beer.
