Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Pours a dark hazy copper with a huge head that dies slowly and laces all over the place throughout. Smells of citrus, rind, hops and sweet malt. Smells great and a little different from a traditional IPA. Tastes the same as it smells along with a lot of bitter grapefruit. Feels creamy and full in the mouth and is extremely drinkable. Deschutes has blown me away during this visit to Oregon and are churning out some great brews.

12oz bottle. Poured a slightly hazy orange with a thin white head that lingered nicely. Heavy fresh pine and citrus hop aroma. Well balanced malt/hop/alcohol. Those great hops hang on for a nice long finish.

Bottle. Not very impressed with this IPA. Beer poured a murky, deep golden color. Head was exreamly BIG, fizzy, and off white in color. Nose of musty hops with some orange peel in the back drop......I think my bottle was a little old.

Thin dense head. Tan in color. Sweet caramel malty aroma with a good helping of floral hops and a bit of citrus. Color is a dark orange brown. Strong maltyness up front. Sweet caramel. Then it does a quick 180 and smacks you in the face with some steep bitternes and hops. Lots of flowers and some grapefruit rind. Some chalkyness and a very dry palate. Lingering strong roastyness and bitterness. A pretty good IPA. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Bockyhorsey for this one.

12 oz. bottle from Albertson’s in Burien, WA. Pour is orange, with some slight haziness and a one inch off white head. Aroma of some grapefruit rind and straight citrus. Taste has some initial bitterness (more of the citrus peel) with a very hop focused body. More bittering hops appear in the finish. There is some malt in the body, though the balance tips much more toward the hops. Nice beer.

Bottled. Pours copper, with an orangy tan head. Nose is citrus, resin, with floral notes. Flavor is malt and citrus. Finishes with a big, wonderfully bitter hop ending.

In the bottle from Total Beverage Denver. Pours dark amber with a large off-white and yellowish head consisting of huge foam bubbles. Has a deep aroma of pine-like hops. The strong bitterness with a solid malt backbone really stands out in this beer. It has a long lingering bite on the tongue. Delicious.

Poured a copper-amber hue with a medium-sized white head. Big hops araoma that lingered. Light and crisp while being very refreshing and quaffable. Resinous warming finish. Glad this one took over for Quail Springs IPA.
