Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Pours a light amber. Massive sweet citrus on the nose. Taste of sweet malt swept by light hops. Finish is very nice with mild hops.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Creamy off-white head over a cloudy orange/amber body. Fragrant hops, light fruit aroma. A nice dry finish follows a smoothly bittered yet solidly malted start.

Hazy amber color; creamy head. Nice hoppy aroma, a bit resiny. Medium mouthfeel, with some good malt and caramel, some sweetness, well balanced (and more) by the bitterness, some resins. Good IPA (American), but straight, without special interest.

Pours light brown with close head. Aroma is faintly chemical and a tobacco-like whiff. Straight bitter is predominant flavor with some orange, caramel and honey. This last note detracts. Palate is average, unremarkable. A good beer if you are in the mood for bitter.

Orange with white head. Vary piney, hop aroma, but with significant grapefruit notes, too. Hop pretty uch dominate the aroma. Flavor has a few smoky notes, and a little bit of earthy, caramel flavors, but is really diominated by big piney and citrusy hops, with a long, sticky aftertaste.

Pours a clear copper color. Head disapates fairly quickly, but good lacing. Sweet and spicy aroma. Medium body but good flavor on all parts of the tongue. Did not rate this beer initially, but I thought it used to have yeast suspended in it. I wish it still did. Good west coast IPA.

Bottle. Pours a copper color with a white head on top. Aroma is cut right down the middle with grapefruit and citrus hops teamed against caramel malts. Flavor is citrusy with sweet caramel malts coming in to balance it out. On the palate the high alcohol content is fairly hidden, the beer finishes bittersweet. Another good beer from Deschutes. I would love to visit the brewery sometime in the near future.
