Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Bottled. Nice caramel sweet aroma. Malty, rich. Fresh hoppy grassy note, with light citrus. Floral, quite mild. Deep amber orange clear, with some small floaties. Lacing foamy off-white head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with mild roasted grain and light brown sugar sweetness. Rather dry, with medium fruity bitterness. Bitter notes deepen as the malts rinse away. Thin watery bitter finish, and dry chalky, almost harsh, after.

Golden colored pour with medium sized head. Hoppy, citrus aroma with a hoppy bitter kick. Too hoppy for me.

Really hoppy brew, refreshing, crisp. Orange citrus is present, alcohol is smooth. Beer is well bodied. Very good beer from Deschutes.

Bottled. Clear amber body, gently sparkling, and topped with a large, ivory head that becomes lumpy and leaves thick splotches of lace. Light-medium body with almost no carbonation, and rather wet finish. Lots of floral hops on the aroma with honey, a touch of caramel-alcohol, and a touch of sweet bread dough; aroma is malt-dominant. Flavor is pine, peach, honey, brown sugar, and has a pleasantly long, bitter finish to dry the mouth out (making up for the lack of carbonation); the mouth is rather balanced...until about 3-4sec after you swallow. Some slight alcoholic warmth on the finish as well, felt in the chest cavity. Not too exciting, but pleasant flavor profile, light, and easy to drink. Refreshing for 100F+ weather.

A mistake. I didn’t think this IPA made, it fell short in certain areas. This IPA had a more pine and forest smell and taste not of traditional IPAs. The hop profile was wierd and the cara and carasont malts were not of my liking in combination with the hops. Not a bad beer overall, just not a great IPA.
