Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

From a bottle, pours a cloudy amber with a big pale tan head. The aroma is nutty and citrusy. The body is medium with average carbonation. Taste is carmel, citrus, just the right amount of sweetness and a big bitter citrusy, piney finish.

Hazy dark copper pour, with a sudsy, sticky lace - nose of caramel and crackery, biscuity malts - grapefruit and orange - fairly full-bodied, and much more malt forward than many american ipas - those hops do come on really strong, though - they add a lot of pine/spruce character - slightly estery, which works well with the malt profile - finish of gingerbread and lingering hoppiness - a bit more distinctive than your average american ipa - nice.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head. Hoppy with a pine, and grapefruit character. Subtle malt notes caramel and some grass. Nice brew.

Caramel green apple nose with hints of pine trees. Copper colored with a big frothy head. Malty and rich, big bitterness like an unripe green apple’s skin, interesting and well balanced. Big carbonation, full bodied, and a bitter fruity smooth finish. Great IPA, fruit is huge and makes for a refreshing IPA. Nice beer.

12oz bottle from Bubbles Liquor World. Pours clear amber with off-white head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, dark fruits and hops. Flavor is bitter hops, bready malts, caramel, some fruit and a little citrus. Could use more hops and citrus. Average IPA.

Second taste of this for me, decided it was time to rate it. For a beer which doesn’t get raved about, it really is a fabulously hoppy beast. Citrus and pine are to the fore, but a searing bitter finish. The malt is no slouch either, with some nice baked bread character, and some fruity esters round out a great beer.
