Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

This beer pours a coppery malaise of colors with a pearlish head and mild amount of lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is bitterly hoppy with pine and hay leaves dominating. Some notes of citrus and potpourri almost. The flavor is one hell of a kick in the ass. I was not expecting this to be as potent as it turned out to be. 75 IBU’s can really bite you in the ass or the mouth when you dont expect them to. Absolutely tart and citrusy with grassy hops and a hint of basil it seemed. Very little malts used here but enough to create a sweet caramel malt finish which counteracting the complete molestation of my tongue by the highly carbonated bitter hops. Finish is sticky and dry. A bit tough to deal with at first but good once you get past the point of sobriety.

Clear bright amber with a full head. About average hoppy-toasty with a c-hop accent. Nice balance, a little old school in that regard, with wood, toast and a bit of grapefruit as well. Even-handed for a 75IBU brew.

bottle. murky maroon body with a nice gray white head. sweet hop nose of of grapefruit and pineapple. flavor is sticky pine with a strong grass finish. this has a decent malt side. the sweetness is a bit more up front after the second glass. caramel and bubble gum. the bitterness gets a bit tacky on the roof of my mouth after a bit. overall an enjoyable beer. this six pack will not last long.

Pours a copper orange with a large, off whtie, foamy head. Floral, citrus, and pine hops. Fruity freshness, bitter, malt, and sweet. Flavor is all IPA. Citrus, pine and floral hops. Orange, some sweet malt, and a touch of refreshing fruit flavor. Medium, dry body. Finishes bitter and dry. Haven’t gotten my hands on a real good IPA in a while (Japan likes there IPAs to be sweet) and this has rekindled my love of this style.

Bottle > Cowboy Club, Jackson Hole, WY. Really nice hoppy freshness in the nose and the flavor. Great IPA that I’m gonna track down on draught. Wish I could get this in TX.

Draft at Ritgers in Hawaii. The last of a very long walk and night that started at a brewery and ended in a black eye. Strong smell of hops, finally something with a decent start. Tastes of citrus, pine, hops and bitter endings. I was to full to finish this one, but i was enjoying it.

Cloudy bronze colour. Moderately hoppy aroma, though the hops aren’t very lively, their aroma seems muted, flat and wet if that makes sense. Like the aroma, hop flavours are not well defined they tend to wallow in sweet malt and slowly peter out into a spicy hop finish. I suspect the bottle I tried was not the freshest, but it didn’t really show signs of past glory. Unlike most other Deschutes beers, this one did not really impress me.

Draft at Ritger’s Hawaii. Decent hoppy aromas off this golden amber pour with a really nice head. Flavors were similar. Strong hops of citrus and grass of the finish. Not bad
