sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 6, 2007 thanks cmubeerman. a pretty nice clear red brown with sizeable head. this is about 80% as hoppy smelling as the most hoppy IIPA i’ve had. not so much citrus as northwest coast type stuff. pretty decent. taste is immediately very nicely sweet malts. definitely bitter on the back half. overall a bit less satisfying, but i can appreciate the piecemeal. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2007 Thanks to kenb for the trade. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium off white foamy/rocky head that left lacing all down the sides of teh glass. Aroma had lots of grapefruit, some pine, some sweet grainy/caramel malts in there. Flavor was pine/grapefruit, some caramel, lots of hop flavor overall. Some flavor and fruity esters coming through as it warmed. TChrome (1298), Bedford, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2007 Beer pours lightly cloudy copper color with a totally retained off white colored head. Aroma is bracingly citric, sharp grapefruit aroma, pretty juicy as well. Flavor is sharply bitter, with sharp grapefruit flavor, light orange juice, maybe a hint of caramel malt, but hard to find through the hoppiness. Pretty good. Thanks Andre’ DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Mar 25, 2007 Bottle on 3/18/07 in Colorado. Bright and clear orange liquid under a medium white head and fair lace. Fresh hoppy aroma of citrus and pine with some contribution from light malts. Medium body and carbonation, clean, dry mouthfeel. Although the caramel sweetness is there, the grapefruit bitterness quickly overcomes, bringing on a lenghty dry finish. This is a nice example of an American style IPA. AmazonMatt (284), Panama Mar 20, 2007 I was expecting a bit more from this beer. Aroma was soapy with floral and light citrus notes. In the mouth it was sweet, with decent hops, but nothing that stood out. Finish is wierd. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Mar 12, 2007 Shared by mball581 on 3/09/2007. Thanks Matt! ... Deschutes Inversion IPA pours a hazy, but bright copper color. The head is thin and frothy in texture and ivory in color. Sweet and sugary grapefruit and some orange citrus fill the aroma. The flavor is earthy and mostly dominated by hop flavor including pine and grapefruit. However, the overall bitterness is moderate and there is some toffee-like maltiness underneath. This beer has a medium body with subtle carbonation (quite smooth as well). This IPA isn’t overly unique, but’s still quite tasty!
12 oz bottle. Best by 12/23/2006 (1230D). DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 4, 2007 Tap. Hazy bronze body, small white head with dense soapy lacing. Grape skin and lime in the bitter aroma. Pine and grapefruit bitterness pervades the flavor, some light crystal malt underneath. White not horribly unique the bold hops make it hard to resist. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 3, 2007 Bottle thanks to Dirty Martini. Poured a deep amber body with hugh head, light lacing. Aroma is of sweet malt with an odd citrus feel that I couldn’t pin-point. Falvor is really bitter at first with a sweet malt backbone. Settled down a bit but was still more bitter than the body would allow. Light cirtus aftertaste.
