jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Dec 25, 2006 Poured coppery cmber with a slight head and good lacing. Nose is peppery and big floral hop. Flavor is bracingly bitter and floral, lacking the resinous profile of most beers this hoppy. Finishes very dry and satisfying. hayduke (1621), Eureka, California, USA Dec 23, 2006 I love IPA so looked forward to this one. From the bottle it poured a somewhat cloudy orange color that left an off-white head that left decent lacing. Nose was malts, hops, fruits and spices. Palate was lively. Flavor was complex, and finish nice and bitter as you would expect of an IPA.. Something did not seem to quite hang together with this IPA, and maybe it is balance. Better than average but far from the best. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 21, 2006 Updated: Dec 27, 2006Bottle... pours a hazy orange/red with a great looking off-white head that lasted a little while. Throughout the whole glass there was always a thin head on top of the liquid, which made it look great. Sweet, hoppy aroma with a touch of caramel. Nice fizzy palate.. Flavors of strong hops and citrus fruit and a great floral aftertaste. This beer has an awesome bite to it and one of the better IPAs I have had yet. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 15, 2006 Thanks to Jake for this one. Pours hazy deep coppery ruby colored with a 2-finger khaki head. Aroma of floral fruity hops, bready malt, black pepper, mango, caramel malt. Tastes tropical fruity at first, yielding to a bready floral slightly funky spicy malt/hop dichotomy, with some finishing black pepper and I dare say saisony floral spicy notes.Very rich palate, complex, and smooth. Well done again by one of the world’s premier brewers. TAR (2088), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2006 Coppery orange. Lathery dollop of white foam adheres nicely. Sherbety nose is lined with hay dust, grass, and apricot. Airy esters invigorate the olfactory senses. Background notes of asprin and herbs. Carbonation deposits a foamy film on the palate, while a hard, toniclike edge scrubs the palate. Soggy hops greet the palate, but a firm grassy bitterness arises to match the suppler peach notes. Malt displays a hint of toasted hay and caramel characteristics, but remains secondary to the forceful bitterness. Nary a hint of juiciness to combat or absorb the abundance of dirty hop flavors. A highly unappealing chalky/aspirin element also manages to compound the unrefined nature of the hops. Bitterness remains robust throughout, steadily intensifying but hardly improving, with notes of orange peels and peach skin. Overripe grapefruit imparts an inordinate amount of sweetness and sogginess. Finishes peppery and grassy with herbal accents (lemon verbena, sage) coupled with a firm but lapsing malt sweetness. This needs a lot of work, mostly in the hop department, as the hops lack cleanliness and explosiveness. It’s also quite yeasty. Some simplification of the recipe would probably do the trick, as the hops are quite crowded. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Dec 1, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a clear orange body with a moderate beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, pine, orange and flora. Flavor of malt and juicy hops. Good thrist quencher, easy drinker! troopie (851), USA Nov 29, 2006 Bottle. Poured a tarnished copper with a thick, foamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, hops. Very hoppy in the mouth, with a touch of caramel. Finish that lastes for six minutes, Drink this cool, in a pint or demi-litre glass. This is a tropical weight session IPA w0nderb0b (6), Lacey, Washington, USA does not count Nov 25, 2006 I love hops, that alone makes me love this beer. its way out of balance and over hoped but i like it.
