Nov 4, 2006 on nitro tap: aroma is subdued PNW hops. Usual notes of grapefruit, pine, citrus, other fruits, caramel, blah blah. However, the nitro thing completely killed this for me. It subdued the aroma and flavor.. as well as the bitterness. I also didn’t like the nitro mouthfeel for an IPA. Basically, I thought this was a mess because of one thing.

Nov 4, 2006 Bottle. Flowery hop aroma. Beautiful pour w/ nice lacing. Nice fruity, citrusy hop flavor w/ a mild piney finish. A very good IPA. Nice hop presentation here.

Nov 3, 2006 12 ounce bottle purchased from Nugget in Davis, CA on Mace. Nice floral, orange, citric aroma with some piney notes and some floral notes. Definitely some PNW hops in this bad boy. Very mildly hazy copper body with a nice frothy off-yellowish head. Beautiful lacing. I wish I could give this a 4.5 for appearance. Floral, mildly astringent start with some nutty maltiness in the middle that is somewhat shy. Finishes with a big dose of grapefruity hops and a relatively dry finish. I don’t know about this. The weird astringency and the dry finish just kind of turn me off.

Nov 2, 2006 This was quite a surprise--the best yet from Deschutes. Startlingly assertive compared to their other offerings, this beer sports nice hop notes in the aroma with good bitterness and malt in the flavor and full-on body that ties it all together for a highly flavorful, drinkable experience that’s widely available.

Oct 30, 2006 Cask handpull at Horse Brass Pub, Portland. Chestnut, disappearing off white head. Slightly earthy hop aroma. Smooth in aroma. Has some depth, just not sure where the malt is going. Great grapefruit, tropical fruit earth finish. Some toffee on the malt. Nice fruit as well in mouth. Interesting.

Oct 30, 2006 An okay IPA but not nearly as good as there HopHenge IPA. Really weak in the nose and attack departments. Finishes rather well though.

Oct 26, 2006 Doesn’t smell floral hoppy, but looks good. A nice cloudy orange-red. Has a very dry bitter bite Quite nice, but certainly not a session IPA.

Oct 18, 2006 Bottle from Albertson’s. Easily noticeable citrusy aroma. Light beige head. Strong, musky hoppiness that gradually rolls away nicely. Bready aftertaste with that distinct slightly thick feeling left in the back of the throat. I like it alot.
