Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

This was quite a surprise--the best yet from Deschutes. Startlingly assertive compared to their other offerings, this beer sports nice hop notes in the aroma with good bitterness and malt in the flavor and full-on body that ties it all together for a highly flavorful, drinkable experience that’s widely available.

Cask handpull at Horse Brass Pub, Portland. Chestnut, disappearing off white head. Slightly earthy hop aroma. Smooth in aroma. Has some depth, just not sure where the malt is going. Great grapefruit, tropical fruit earth finish. Some toffee on the malt. Nice fruit as well in mouth. Interesting.

An okay IPA but not nearly as good as there HopHenge IPA. Really weak in the nose and attack departments. Finishes rather well though.

Doesn’t smell floral hoppy, but looks good. A nice cloudy orange-red. Has a very dry bitter bite Quite nice, but certainly not a session IPA.

Bottle from Albertson’s. Easily noticeable citrusy aroma. Light beige head. Strong, musky hoppiness that gradually rolls away nicely. Bready aftertaste with that distinct slightly thick feeling left in the back of the throat. I like it alot.

Pours hazy amber, thin off white head. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, sweet, light malt and a little alcohol. The taste has a little bit of everything, nice malt, sweet berry hops, citrus, pine and nice bitter finish. Nothing is overwhelming, bitterness does linger a little bit. This is a decent middle of the road IPA.

A wonderfully hopped IPA which stands alone (or lies alone) without food accompaniment. Wonderful rich amber color and smooth pour, but without enough head. rich citrusy notes and crisp finish.Ummmm

Hazy amber color, small off white head that had a decent hangtime then faded slowly to leave a slight lace behind. The aroma was hoppy with a nice citrus side and some notes of pine and light malt. The flavor was pretty good, light malty side some grapefruit a bit of caramel and a hint of pine notes to go along with all the hops.Very nice brew, not as good as the avery i just had but decent enough for another go around.
