Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Draft at Falling Rock.Hazed copper. Nose is big hops, citrus fruits, light toffee, caramel, and slight pine notes. Taste is more citrus fruits, bigger toffee, chewy malts, earthy hops, light alcohol and some evergreen. Body is resinous but medium and sticky in spots. Finishes with more big hop bitterness citrus notes and chewy malts.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a medium head that leaves some decent lacing. Super hoppy aroma with notes of citrus and pine. Taste is dominated by bitter hops, a little caramel. White grapefruit flavors and finish give it a bit of harshness that I’m not particularly into, as I’m more apt to throw the things at people than eat them. I’d have liked a little more sweetness to balance it out, but decent overall.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 30 Sep) Dark amber colour with small head. Fruity nose with powerful hoppy aromas, notes of grapefruit, pine needles and resin. Fruity, seriously hoppy, taste with grapefruit, pine needles, resin and harsh earthy hop flavours in the finish. Starts sweet, turns drier towards the finish, medium body. Very hoppy and very nice.

12oz bottle shared courtesy of zrrbrrt. Poured a dark orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of oranges, citrus, floral and caramel. Tastes followed the same with a grapefruit finish. I liked the balance in this IPA.

Poured a hazy copper color with a medium sized, off white head that left moderate lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus fruits, and and some caramel malts as well. Taste of more pine and caramel, with toffee, light toastiness, and grapefruit finish.

Thanks to zrrbrrt for this... Appears a medium toned, hazy amber with a small off-white head that sLowly fades out. Streaks of lacing was left around the glass. Smell is creamy, citrusy, with caramel, grass, and biscuits. Taste is of the mentioned aromas highlighted with earthy, grassy, and citrusy flavors. Mouthfeel is bitter without much of a sugary, ballsy malt balance that I was craving in this one.

(Bottle) Pours hazy amber. No head. Fresh, piny hop aroma with exotic fruits like orange, pineapple and apricot. Piney, rasiny hop flavour with good, balanced, grapefruity bitterness/afterbitterness. Medium body.
