Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

Bottle... GABF RB Tasting ’06... Hazy amber ale with a mid-sized, frothy khaki head. A blend of pink grapefruit, pine, black tea, caramel and biscuity malt in the nose. Bittersweet toffee, grapefruit, pine flavor. Medium-bodied and chewy with lively carbonation. Sweet, astringent and then dry finish. Thanks goes out to MIBRomeo for providing the bottle!

Bottled (became rating #2000). Hazy, darkish amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is fruitish and flowery hops with sweet candyish hints. Liked the aroma very much. Flavour again is grassy, slight caramellish and hayish. Quite standard IPA.

Bottle via Chuck. The beer pours to a nice orange copper caramel colored body with a creamy white head. Nice lacing. The aroma is nicely grapefruity, piney, and creamy caramel. The flavor is quite bitter. The palate is extremely bitter. Lingering oily resin feel. Dry. A good beer but seems more bitter than Ruination.

copper colored pour hints of orange full white head nice lacing. Full grapefruit aroma hints of nice carmels nd is well balanced against a big grassy hop. Palate is thick and oily nice coating. Flavor is a piney resin quite bitter a very dry grasslike finish. Some verylight carmels come out more w/ warmer temps. A very decent quite bitter IPA.

Hazy straight amber, an honest sheet of off-white head mostly lasts atop it all. Well displayed earthy, caramelly malts with a toasted snap manages to act as the foundation of the beer, but the spirit remains the not so delicate hop bill that appears slightly tannic with full citrusy aromas that continue woody and grassy. Rather citric bitterness, but the acidity is kept at bay by the interactive malts. Very good IPA, in the rules of the art.
