Reddish orange pour with a big bubbled white head. Simply citrus hop aroma. And then the flavor...BANG. Bitter hops hit with a great citrus peel flavor and just enough malt to keep you from puckering up and shuddering. Man the hops are delicious. Very drinkable beer...very delicious.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Particle hazed amber, thick sticky beige head. Aroma of caramel, sweet and dank hops, floral. Taste is more sweet than bitter, resinous finish. Lots of thick malt and some roast flavors. Medium smooth texture.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Smells like standing in a hop field, but in some kind of movie. Iíve never stood in a hops field, but this is what I hope itís like. Very crisp and hoppyy. Perfect red and amber, not much head or lacing, it is the exact IPA representation I expect. Quite bitter and hoppy, and sweet malt at the end. Nice. I would definately get this regularlly if it wasnít so hard to get in my location.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours clear amber thin head, with a slightly reddish tinge. Excellent bold hoppy aroma it smells like the pacific north west. Malty to start with a strong floral hop falvour and aroma giving way to deep complex layers of bitterness. the after taste goes for miles and continues to eveolve. this is a complex and excellent IPA.!!! Deschutes sure knows how to hop a beer. This is an amazing IPA. It kicks ass!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2011 Itís either sad or awesome that around Seattle I hold Deschutes with as much esteem as Sam Adams because itís so readily available. I almost always pass it up for something more rare and ultimately inferior. The truth is this is a great IPA. Itís going to become a new standby for me. Well balanced IPA. Flavor is very close to SN Torpedo, with a slightly smaller bite. Quite piney. $5.99 a sixer at 6.8% abv...HOLLA! Zeswaft: 8:10

Pours a nice reddish orange from a 12oz bottle. Fresh, lightly sweet, maybe floral aroma. Great bite to it. This is a solid IPA, very enjoyable. A nice bitter counterpart of Mirror Pond Pale by Deschutes.

(12oz bottle thanks to mar) deep amber, little to no head but great lacing. Nose of rye, bread, citrus hops. Taste of bitter rye, spicy hops, and bread. Medium light body, well carb with a slightly dry bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle with a best before of 07/06/2010. Pours with a large, bone colored off-white head over a clear, pretty penny colored body. Aroma is fruity, some pine and pink grapefruit, light delicate grainy/husky quality, A bit of sugar, melon and light caramel. Pretty dry aroma. Taste is quite bitter, light husky and caramel notes with a lot of citrus rind qualities from the hops up front followed by some pine notes and graham cracker over the long finish. Medium to high tingling bubbles. A bit of alcohol. Pretty solid IPA, but I donít think Deschutes makes any mediocre beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I had to check my glass and hands to make sure there were no other odors coming from them because of the very unique aroma coming off of this beer: latex rubber! I know that might sound like a bad thing, but trust me, itís not. Iím going to guess that one of the hops used in this beer is Simcoe because thatís the aroma I vividly remember noting when I tasted the Mikkeller Simcoe Single Hop IPA and being blown away by how unique it was. Inversion starts off with this and follows up with a beautiful balance of grapefruit/citrus hops balanced by just enough malt body to keep it firmly planted in the American IPA style. A slightly murky tan-orange color with a surprisingly dense and persistent white head, this is an all-around great IPA from start to finish.
