COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Enter, if you will, all the glorious aromatic complexity of the hop. This big, bold IPAís intense multi-hop kick gets a subtle dose of restraint from select Crystal and Carastan malts. For discriminating hop heads.

This is a too mild IPA wise for me. If I was going Deschutes IPA, I would go for Hop Trip. This is a decent if somewhat muted pale ale.

Bottle thanks to Bitbucket
Transparent red-amber with a thin yellow head. Grapefruit, pine, and light toast in the nose. Slightly soapy flavor of sharp citrus, mainly grapefruit, also some grain and burnt sugar. Moderate body, finish is dominated by citrus. Though singular and dominated by grapefruit, the fruit notes are uniquely potent.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2011 Pours orange with light white head. Wow, I love the bitterness of this one. Itís like a Mirror Pond on steroids. Classic West Coast hop aromas and flavors, with more citrus than some of their other pale ales. Strong tea leaves and that common Deschutes trademark flavor of their pale ales. A nice bite with a decent amount of resin in the finish. Very drinkable. I wish i could get it more often.

Bottle. Pours amber with a creamy white head. Ahh the aroma...Iím surprised just how fresh this is from the bottle. Caramel malt, grapefruit, citrus and resiny hops. The flavour is just as good, if not better. Absolutely delicious, just how I like an IPA to be. Very smooth in the mouthfeel and a nice hoppy kick in the finish. Very moreish, a shame there wasnít more to go around.

pours the copper tube ... pretty good foam .. . theres a time limit: bake the cake, bitch! .. . pure pine and light sugary tree bark .. . light-medium in the mouth.. good simple finish.. a sixer was enough for me, not overly complex but good.

Number 150! Nice foamy head sits atop a lightly hazy red-orange. Lemony hops and a little bit of sweetness in the nose. Flavor is dominated by sticky citrus hops, and thereís a pleasant caramel malt note accompanying. Caramel malt + resiny hops = a great combination. A nice smooth palate, and the beer sticks to the mouth on the way down. A nice and easy-drinking IPA.

Royís Waikoloa- Big Island- - bottle. Paired with pork-belly mac and cheese (really good). Beer pours dark copper with a citrus hop aroma. First taste is awesome- like a barleywine with sweet malts up-front, some caramel, delicate sweetness, not overpowering at all. Then a terrific bitter hop profile follows- grapefruit primarily. Finish is crisp, clean, not at all sweet. This beer has great balance, malts and hops work perfectly together. Excellent.

On cask at the Deschutes Portland location. Colour... amber-brown, no head. Nose... mild hops, spent grain. Palate... moderately tangy hops, slightly biscuity, rather uneventful.

On tap at Portland Brewpub. Pours honey colored, with a cream head and some lace. Aromas of citrus and malt. Taste is fresh with a nice round bitterness.
