Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

(Bottle). Pours a light red/orange color. Head is yellowish/white. Light to moderate head lacing. Aroma of hops. Strong taste of hops and citrus, with a finish that is somewhat bitter. Soft carbonation.

Bottled. For a mass produced micro it has good bitterness and malt sweetness. At the same time it is an average IPA with not too much of anything other than malt. The 6.8% alchy surprised me but that was about it.

12 oz bottle. Mildly fecund aroma of pine and hops. Pours a deep copper with a full one inch white head. Flavor is bold and yet smooth with definite hoppiness. Overall a pretty decent IPA.

Bottle. Pours clear dark orange amber with a nice foamy off-white head. Mostly citrus hops in the nose, some caramel malts as well. Very well-balanced flavor of grapefruit, caramel, and a little pine. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thick and sticky.

A decent, regularly available IPA. Subtle flavors on the nose, maybe some citrus fruits. Not much to the hop flavor, run of the mill.

Lots of caramel, and some pine and grapefruit aromas. Poured an amber color with a copper hue and a sticky off white head. A lot of caramel with sweet English Tea and has some grapfruit and alcohol taste throughout. Medium bodied, resinous, with lively soft carbonation. Decent for a session starter or an inline session beer, for me.

Nice, classic northwest IPA. Sweet aroma with a rich, creamy hop flavor. Dry, bitter finish.

smells pretty carmelly and grapefruity from the hops. pours pretty dark for an ipa. tastes a little too much malt but has a nice hoppy finish.
