COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Enter, if you will, all the glorious aromatic complexity of the hop. This big, bold IPA’s intense multi-hop kick gets a subtle dose of restraint from select Crystal and Carastan malts. For discriminating hop heads.

An IPA from Oregon that stands up against all the California and Colorado IPAs. Very nice from start to finish. It has the fruity flavor with the bitter bite I look for. A very nice IPA for an IPA guy.

Bottle poured into shaker. Amber with muted hop aroma. Billed as the aroma of hop flower in a bottle, it reminds me if Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo IPA. Awesome lacing follows a malty yet citrusy finish. The 6.8 ABV is not noticeable. A very sessionable IPA and one I’ll seek ou lt again.

Pours a copper color in the glass with a light head. Smells spicy and tickles the nose. Tastes of hop with malt undertones, and a strange chemical taste at the end. Not my favorite IPA or favorite Deschutes.

Poured this little fella into a tasting glass. Smells sweet and grapefruit. Tastes delicious but there’s a butteryness mid palate that destroys the hoppyness. Great beer if you ignore the off flavor.

Pours orange color with a decent sized white head. Aroma is piny and citrusy. Taste is caramel sweetness and ends with piny and a bit of grapefruit bitterness. Medium bodied.

Aroma is less hoppy than most IPA’s. Taste was hop forward, but mellowed quickly, with some malts and a little citrus somewhere. Very easy drinking for an IPA, almost understated. Overall good.

Clear red/amber with 1 finger off white head. lite lacing appears creamy, sticky. Smell is clean, citrus and mildly sweet malts. Taste is Hops up front with a medium alcohol presense, citrus and sweet creamy malt notes. Carbonation is zesty with med alcohol warmth, medium body, nice hop bite and dryness on tongue. For me the alcohol presense pushed this brew more toward a DIPA. Well crafted and worth trying.

Very pretty hazy cloudy amber. Smells like honey, honey, white honey, and honey. Some lemon. Tastes like honey and dry grapefruit. Some pine needles, some spicy hops, fresh grass, dry grass, caramel. Dry finish, a tad salty. A peculiar beer. Intriguing enough to try several more times.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2007 A completely different take on an "IPA," if it even actually qualifies for the name. Tastes and looks much more like a stronger, hopped up (and inferior tasting) version of their Cinder Cone amber to me. I like the brew OK, but I definitely think its masquerading under an IPA label. Liked Deschutes’ other IPA MUCH better. I very much doubt I’ll try this one again.
