Commercial Description:
After months of experimentation, energy and obsession, Deschutes Brewery’s brewers have triumphed once again with their newest creation - Inversion IPA. Inversion’s trio of American hops delivers an over-the-top nose with hints of orange and grapefruit. Inversion is then dry-hopped for seven days resulting in an added hoppy kick. To balance the hop character of Inversion, Deschutes’ brewers used crystal and caraston malts that weave throughout the beer providing soft, complex caramel flavors. Inversion IPA is smooth and delicious. Just like clear days up on the mountain, Inversion IPA will deliver a path to higher ground. Inversion will be available year-round starting in early April on draft and in 6-packs. Inversion IPA is a phenomenal NW-style IPA, beckoning all beer drinkers and enticing IPA lovers to invert their world and find clarity above the routine of the everyday. Alc. By Vol. 6.8% IBUs 75

(Bottle) Pours hazy amber. No head. Fresh, piny hop aroma with exotic fruits like orange, pineapple and apricot. Piney, rasiny hop flavour with good, balanced, grapefruity bitterness/afterbitterness. Medium body.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with huge foamy head - nice lacing. Nose is sweet malt and citrus. Palate is a bit bitter upfront but mellows with malt and grapefruit before finishing with a piney bitter aftertaste. Medium mouth feel. Not bad really.

Bottle thanks to Dirty_Martini. Poured a deep amber body with hugh head, light lacing. Aroma is of sweet malt with an odd citrus feel that I couldn’t pin-point. Falvor is really bitter at first with a sweet malt backbone. Settled down a bit but was still more bitter than the body would allow. Light cirtus aftertaste.

12oz bottle-Aroma of hops and citrus on a medium amber body with an off white head that retains itself quite good. Has a taste of citrusy with a very dry bitterness on the back end.

Nice bitter flavor, pine, citrus hops, alcohol is hidden well, actually drank quite easy, will drink it again. Single bought at Hollingshead’s.

From a 12oz. hop embossed brown bottle with a blurb on both the neck and front labels with a best before date, 08/23/06. Made a good appearance, poured an cloudy orange hued amber with a fluffy pale tan that settled into a thin foamy lacing, minimal amount of sticking, moderate carbonation overall. Had a citrus hop and caramel malty nose with a little toasted grain and butteriness at the edges. A crisp, hop textured and creamy smooth full bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Leafy citrus hoppiness backed by a smooth, crisp caramel maltiness, a nice rolling hop bitterness on the tongue, toasted graininess, a sweet butteriness shows up towards the end and a hoppy and caramel finish with the well masked alcohol warmth finally coming out. A delicious tasting AIPA from Deschutes, hoppy, but balanced, well worth trying.

Bottle Pours a deep golden amber. Cloudy and with a modest sized but dence and creamy light tan head. Lots of citrusy hop aroma. Flavor is full and rich. Dominated by the bittering hops and the fairly strong ABV is evident. A bit of a heavyweight IPA and a nice lingering dry puckering bitter aftertaste.
