3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
16 oz glass at National Beer Hall (Calgary). Clear deep amber, so-so tight off-white head. Strong pine and resin, nice grapefruit peel, crunchy caramel and toffee malts, dank and lovely. Medium+ body, sparse effervescence. So much dank, pine, resin, strong, heavy toffee malts, sticky, juicy oranges, slightly peppery, lovely; fairly sweet and quite bitter with a long, lingering dank, resinous, orange peel finish. Really nice.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 10C. Clear amber with a large off-white head that laces extravagantly. Aroma of caramel, marmalade, mango skin, pine. Sweet with loads of caramel, strong bitterness rumbles through with grapefruit and pine towards the finish. Too much caramel for me but a very nice aromatic and bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle from Friar Tuckís. Pours a somewhat cloudy orange with a bit of amber brightness and a small off-white head. Aroma is subtle, with citrus, caramel and toasted malts, a hint of tropical fruit, and a bit of florals. The flavor has grapefruit, orange peel, mango, caramel, toast, and bitter florals on the finish. Light-medium bodied, with a citrusy, mildly bitter mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Good all-around IPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Definitely hoppy and finishes pretty dry and bitter which I donít particularly enjoy. It has a very good copper pour w/ a big tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is quite floral. The taste is bitter throughout. Iím sure this is a great brew for the hopheads out there but I just prefer a little more of a clean finish!

Good one - sweet caramel malt just ahead of earthy herbal hops - quickly smashed this one - genuinely thirst quenching - note to self: seek out again.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is the IPA to judge all others by, in my opinion. Very hoppy, very piney, and very bitter, yet the aftertaste makes you want to finish it quickly so you can open another. I strive to find an IPA I like better, but continuously fail. Itís strange, too, that being a regionally mass marketed beer that it should be so good. Memorable beer finds should be few and far between. But this stuff tops them all!

Pours an amber ale with a solid sheet of linen foam and excellent clarity. Alcohol, grapefruit, mango and some lemon. This is a really, surprisingly pleasant nose here. Some hints of sweet malts in the background of the nose. Assertive bitterness with a balanced degree of english malt, this beer tastes like a sherbert. I dig it. Medium bodied with light on moderate carb and a wet finish. I stopped drinking this flagship a couple years ago because I found it too simple. Donít know if the recipe or I just changed, but good stuff - reminds me of Hop Henge 2012 (light version)

Definitely grows on you. Massively hopped, so all bitterness at first, but the malt gradually works its way through, to the point that youíre looking forward to the next one. From the tap at the Wheaty.

Pour from bottle. Amber in color with a strong bitterness, not a bad IPA but has a somewhat funky finish today
