Enter, if you will, all the glorious aromatic complexity of the hop. This big, bold IPAís intense multi-hop kick gets a subtle dose of restraint from select Crystal and Carastan malts. For discriminating hop heads.

Cloudy bronze colour. Moderately hoppy aroma, though the hops arenít very lively, their aroma seems muted, flat and wet if that makes sense. Like the aroma, hop flavours are not well defined they tend to wallow in sweet malt and slowly peter out into a spicy hop finish. I suspect the bottle I tried was not the freshest, but it didnít really show signs of past glory. Unlike most other Deschutes beers, this one did not really impress me.

Salmoniform (648) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - SEP 14, 2014
Poured from bottle to glass. Amber hue with creamy white head that dissipated to a ring. Aroma is grapefruit, orange peel, pine, straw, caramel. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a strong hop bitterness that extends through the finish. Overall this is a really nice shelf IPA.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a nice copper color with tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of floral notes, caramel and some toasted malt. Taste is pretty well balanced and sweeter than most IPAs. Caramel, toffee, brown auger malt backbone give it moderate sweetness with some pine and floral flavors giving it a clean consistent moderate bitterness. Above average IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Golden cloudy appearance with a light fruity aroma, tastes of tropical fruits hit with an acidic sensation which turned to bitter aftertaste, creamy texture, very good IPA.

Tap at Jake OíConnerís. Pint glass. Frothy head, lacing is high quality. Copper, maybe amber. Aroma has some strong hop characteristics. Malt sweetness at the onset. Hoppy throughout the middle and towards the end leaving a bitter, but enjoyable finish. More of a fall feel to this option. Not as citrus refreshing as other Pacific Northwest IPAs. Definitely worth a sample.

A good beer with a solid hop flavor. Alcohol is masked well. A bit piney at the finish.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Radiant, translucent orange copper, a little too translucent, with a fine bead and steady, loose off-white crest. Poignantly camphorous, like a hit of Morteinô to the head, is the nose with just enough biscuity malt, leafy herbs, roasted nuts, pine and nettles and just a sneaky touch of stonefruit. Bold and yet quite subtle on the palate. Creamy with very soft carbonation. Firm, malty, nutty and woody backdrop before a fruity, cherry rich, camphorous swallow. Long lasting bitterness; plenty of raw hops with floral, musky notes and bitter citrus fruit. Ok, but not ground breaking stuff. Weighted, but sessionable! (12fl.Oz, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours basically an amber color with a big head and decent lacing on the glass.

The aroma is hop forward, plenty leafy with some light pine, itís also got a good bit of toasty malt. It seems like the hop character sort of tapered off a bit after a minute or two of sitting in the glass.

The flavor is, oh... fine I suppose. Itís defiantly not "my type" of IPA, but itís not bad beer. Itís defiantly balanced with a light malt sweetness, some big bitterness, and a nice citrus and grassy hop character.

It is a timepiece for IPAs of a particular generation and I think itís one of the better ones of itís kind. But like I said, itís really not my thing.

Excellent IPA. I couldnít figure out for a while what the aroma is. Cherries...like maraschino cherries. Super sweet smelling. Taste is smooth and velvety. Very hoppy, very bitter. Super delicious beer. Deschutes is a killer brewery and this is just another awesome beer from them. Definitely try it.

Poured from bottle into a tulip glass, good looking beer. Pours a dark, red-ish brown color with a good sized creamy white head with good lacing. Definitely a unique tasting IPA. Has a much sweeter taste, hints of caramel and cherry. Not nearly as bitter as most IPAs, and has a bit of an earthy aftertaste. Not exactly what I was expecting, but this is a unique and drinkable IPA that I really enjoyed.
