3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is one IPA thatís not ashamed of being big and aggressive and I like it. Itís a gorgeous red color w/ a long lasting head. Itís nose is vaguely fruity and hoppy, good but not inspiring. When you taste it though, this sucker is huge. Thereís just loads of hop bitterness and while there is a touch of malty sweetness it doesnít come close to any sort of balance--and thatís a good thing! The bitterness clings to your tongue and begs you to take another sip. This is a dangerous one that youíll want to suck down in volume in the hot summer son but will undoubtedly leave you w/ a headache after a couple hours sipping this and baking in the heat. Such is the life of a true beer geek. The ones of us who truly believe are willing to suffer for our love.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, poured into a snifter. The aroma is a mellow pine and resin combination initially, with sappy, floral honey undertones, followed by a bright and sweet citrus and caramel. The beer pours a rich, slightly murky caramel color topped by a tan, dense soap head that retains an abundant scattered soapiness and leaves plenty of messy lace. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium bitter. Itís oily and malty texture has a slick foam carbonation. The medium body is light roasted in character with with a wood tone, molasses, and nuts. The finish is smooth and syrupy with a clean woody spice. Itís aftertaste is mild with a nutty tone with cooked molasses, or more of a lightly burnt syrup, with a hint of tart citrus.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Heavy persistent foam covers over flavor, but you sense some good hopped shades of citrus. The taste is strong hoppy and dry beer with clear pine and citrus. Itís a real American IPA where the hops go straight on the palate from the start. It has nevertheless suffered light caramel in the background, but it is the hops which is the main theme. It must certainly not be drunk to fast, but as an IPA slowly sipping until the taste buds slowly acclimatise. Then you also get an IPA which is full of good fruity hops. Its fruit shades are somewhat difficult is defining precisely but there is probably used several different types of hops. The brewery refers to itself as an IPA for the discerning hops enjoy, and it is certainly not entirely wrong. I think it is perhaps a little too hoppy because I love that you can taste the different fruits of the hops and the clashes greatly here. Conversely, you get a good, solid hop and itís probably what most IPA lovers will have. Yes, bitterness is high - but tasty.

Overflowed the bottle on opening. Doubt itís meant to be so gassy. Very bitter throughout and lingers. Didnít particularly enjoy it. Shame as it was a beautiful rich brown IPA

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pub glass today. Best by 09.29.15. A: Sweet pine, orange rind, and caramel. Very nice. Not harsh at all. A: 1 finger fluffy head with nice lacing after it recedes a a thinner layer of fluff. See through red with bubbles streaming up. T: Sweet pine, bready malt, and candied tropical fruit dominate. Flower and orange rind are subtle. P: Crisp and clean with a little bit of resin. O: This is a perfectly balanced, easy drinking IPA. Thank the beer gods for Deschutes.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance Ė The beer pours an amber-red color with a one finger head of fizzy off white foam. The head fades rather rapidly, leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell Ė The aroma of the beer is lighter overall with the heaviest of the aromas being that of a pine smell and some caramel. Other smells of a grass and a bit of grapefruit are there as well.
Taste Ė Upfront the taste is bready and malty with a moderate showing of a caramel sweetness and flavors of a pine hop. As the taste advances the pine gets stronger while the bready taste takes on a slightly more roasted flavor in nature. The roast and the pine continue increasing as the caramel fades a bit, being replaced by more hop flavors of an earthy and grapefruit nature. In the end with the transitions that have transpired, one is left with a decently bitter and moderately roasty IPA flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel Ė The body of the beer is thicker and chewier then normal with a slightly lower carbonation level. Overall the feel was pretty good, with it accentuating the hop tastes rather well.
Overall Ė A rather tasty IPA with a slightly more dank hop and roasty character. Fairly good overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Aroma is complex mix of malty bread, floral and resinous hops and yeasty dough. Appearance is clear, dark brown with nice 2 finger-width beige head, minimal lacing. Taste is like aroma with the floral, resinous bitter hops dominating the malt and yeast but definitely a mix. Palate is light-to-medium body with average carbonation and long mildly bitter finish. Overall, nice complexity here which is nice, a little bit too far to the bitter side for me to truly enjoy but others should love it.
