The beer is dark brown in color with a light brown head and little retention. It lightly smells of caramel and malt with no heat. It has a rich caramel taste with hints of roasted grains. It has a full body and runs smooth over the palette. You definitely do not taste any alcohol. Dangerous but delicious; definitely an easy drinking beer.

(bottle - 22 oz - 2010 vintage) Murky copper pour with a thin tan head. Fruity and malty aroma with lots of caramel and still some good alcohol. Lots of different fruits in the flavor with a middle that seems to be a combination of toffee and caramel. Finishes sweet and fruity.

Sat on this for 5 years before cracking it open. Creamy first impression, drinks more like a quadruppel than anything else I can think of.

Draft at GABBF: Poured a murky brown with a tan head. Aroma was sweet malt and spices. Taste was strong caramel and toffee malt, light spice, and has this core warming alcohol appearance.

Let this one sit for a solid 4+ years. Thanks for the wax seal </sarcasm> wasn’t annoying at all to open. Anyway. Little aroma (but low carbonation from the aging) still low aroma. Low level faults but the dive into an amazing beer. Maybe the aging helped, but nevertheless, this has a fine, blurred alcohol with malt, mild bitterness, tasty after tones. This might have needed the again, but either way it benefited. The aroma isn’t bad, but you really have to work to get it.

Draft at Fiddler’s. Lovely clear amber pour with offwhite head that dissipates to a ring. A smidge of lacing. Aroma brings lots of caramelized brown sugar; hop presence is there (surprisingly); caramel and candi. Taste: sweet, rich caramelized sugar and toffee. A beer whose style really may be best described as "winter warmer." Balanced by moderate bitterness. Sweet and strong, but no alcohol burn. Palate: full sticky body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Overall: this is a nice one. I may be biased by the fact that I’m out at a neighborhood joint without a child on a Saturday night. But I don’t think so. Not an everyday beer, but if I was in a ski lodge and it was snowing, this could be the perfect beer.

Pours hazy dark chestnut brown with a thin khaki head, very fine lacing, low retention. Big malty aromas, fig, toast, dark cherry, vanilla, chocolate, alcohol and grass. Thick body, smooth, lightly dry. Strong not quite cloying sweetness, mild dry bitter finish. Alcohol taste is a little strong. An enjoyable

on tap-this jubel was "super" indeed. more wine-like than beer-like in many aspects. the feel was so smooth from the pinot barrels, which also gave a pleasant oakiness and fruity character to the aroma and deeply complex flavor. a little on the sweet side, which is really the only thing preventing this one from getting a couple tens. a sipper for sure. reminded me of DFH’s better beers, but with added layers of complexity. subsequent aged samples not quite a 4.5, more like a 4.3."

Starker, malzig schokoladiger Antrunk. Leichte Alkoholnoten, nicht zu süß, die Malzigkeit wird aber drückend. Dabei etwas trocken, schwer aber gut. 11/12/8/12/9/12
