| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Smells a little like coffee, and sweetness. Fairly dark (opaque), brownish-orange color and pours with a thin head. Tastes fairly sweet but the flavor is not overpowering. Also it is malty and woody or piny tasting. The finish is somewhat overpowering, and I can’t tell if the finish is from hops or if they added pine needles to the recipe. Overall, quite delicious. CasperQuaffer (142), Casper, Wyoming, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Pours dark but translucent. Medium head. Taste chocolate, slight coffee, and a bit of citrus rind hops. Well rounded malty mouth feel. Too bad this very good beer is not an "all-weather" type ale. bdigital (586), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA

That said, it seems like every year it’s less robust than I remember the year before. Maybe I’m projecting memories of holiday cheer into the beer, but it never seems to live up to what I remember. Nonetheless, it’s a wonderful quaff that fills my whole mouth with flavor. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Pours deep mahogany with brown hioghlights and a thin tan head. Nutty, roasted malt aroma, with a bit of spice (nutmeg? cinnamon?). Flat mouthfeel. A truckload of caramel malt lingers throughout, which the hops have the fight through. Some coffee and roasted malt. It really keeps true to a English Strong Ale without falling into the ESB category. junon (216), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2007 Deep and solid amber/ruby red. Candy or Fruity presence in aroma. At an alcohol % lower than 7% I am surprised and confused about how prevalent it is through out. Wish they would mask it just a little more.
