StumpMe (30), Bellingham, USA May 9, 2007 I’ve had this beer on CO2 and on nitro and I have to say I like it better on nitro. It’s smoother. Amber in color and retains little head. It has a nice medium-body with a clean finish (on nitro) and is fairly malty sweet. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark May 4, 2007 Bottle. Ruby colour with a big beige head. Caramel malt, light dusty, rye bread, hop aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry finish. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark May 1, 2007 Bottle. [Thanks to Sk8viking for sharing! Average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted. Fair lacing. Clear amber color. Rye bread, burned and hoppy notes. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with good burned bitter notes and hops bitterness. Light bitter and dry finish. Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2007 Updated: Jul 21, 2009On tap. Clear orangey brown with a yellowish/brown head leaving some lacework. Aroma of yeast and dried fruit - some alcohol also. Medium body with dried and overripe fruit and a warming alcoholic finish. 060709
(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of sk8viking. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a dense, beige head. Aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Medium-bodied, roasted malt and very burned caramel. Some bitterness in the finish. 7/4/7/3/14=3.5 290407 StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 17, 2007 2006 bottle, courtesy of tpkenned. Semi-hazed and rosy brown in color with a well laid, retaining tan café frothed head. Aroma sings of sweet dusty dates, braded fig chews, brown sugared mulberry and toffee careened by supporting citric hop zest. Flavor wheels in with nut laden fig rolls and fancy Christmas desert rolls. Hop flavors gallop to give some melted cherry toffee flare. Citric zests pralines and dates for a wintertime duet while burgundy drips on pumpernickel bread. A medium-bodied palate presence is shared with red currant, weaving through toffee-centered grahams and a minor glimpse of red licorice, which pokes out of rye loafs for a nutty, clean and citric accented bitterness to dry into the finish. GuilTTy (527), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Mar 31, 2007 Bottle thanks to Brad (Gokart) on the Southern Cal Audi TT Forum. Pours a hazy chestnut with deep red highlites and supports a tall and rocky off white head. Grassy, fruity and malty aroma. Rich malty flavor but with plenty of hops to keep the complex flavors in a tight envelope. Hints if spice, pepper and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. Long, sweet finish and firm texture. The spice profile isn’t as aggressive as expected for traditional winter seasonals but that just makes this offering a great year-round pour. DrD (61), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Mar 8, 2007 Though the character of this brew varies from year to year, it’s long be a favorite of ours. The ’05 was a bit thin and underflavored. The ’06 is much more rich and complex...starting to approach the considerable more robust and spicy versions of the previous Brewmaster. An imperial pint of Jube after a hard day of play in the snow is my idea of bliss. rmussman (905), California, USA Mar 2, 2007 A nice winter brew from Deschutes. Appearance is dark brown with a cloudy hue. Mouthfeel is smooth and full of a nice hoppy and spicey flavor you expect from a winter brew. Overall this is a nice brew.
