nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Jan 29, 2009 Legitimate BevMo grab at worst, very good winter beer at best. The Jubelale is a solid bet for any occasion, from Christmas to your 50th birthday, or as Shibu of Ernie’s Liquors used to call it before he got deported, the "golden jubilee." Copper color, off-white head. Nice aroma of hops, spices, and sweet malt. Well-spiced with good maltiness but not a very full body. Some hops, typical profile of Deschutes brews. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Jan 26, 2009 The look is amber ro red in color with a thin beige colored head. The smell is malty, fruits, sweet, and hops. Taste is light bitterness, fruits, malts, hops, and caramel. v8powered (48), , Nevada, USA Jan 24, 2009 This beer pours dark brown in color and has a tan/white head. Very good malt flavor. The hops are very complex and the flavor changes from first taste to the after taste. Hops have a piney taste but not to strong. Burnt carmel flavor present in the malt as well with a touch of molasses. I got this as a 6 pack for $5.99. What a deal for a GREAT beer. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jan 20, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a long lasting 2 finger foamy tan head that leaves stellar lacing. Nose is toasted caramel and floral hops. Taste is caramel, burnt chocolate and citrus hops with some pine in the finish. Medium-to-full mouth feel. Very good. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jan 19, 2009 12oz bottle courtesy of Reino poured into a tulip.
Pours a dark brown that shows as a deep ruby when held up to the light. There is an impressive two-finger cream-colored head that sticks to the sides on the way down to a lasting cap. This is a gorgeous beer.
The aroma is massively sweet with lots of caramel malts, molasses and dark fruit which gives way to some spiciness that lingers in the nose. I didn’t get a lot of hops in the aroma.
There are some earthy hops that open up the taste with a slight bitterness on top of the massive caramel malt backbone that keeps the sweetness going throughout. The spices come out in the middle and really tingle the tongue in the finish with a peppery zing.
The mouthfeel is medium to full-bodied with strong carbonation that leads to a very velvety feel overall.
This is one of the better winter beers I’ve had in a while and I’m not normally a fan of beers with decent spice profiles. This one pulls it off extremely well and I’m impressed overall. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jan 16, 2009 2008 Bottle on 12/06/2008 at the James River Homebrew Club Christmas Party. Clear reddish amber body with a small off-white head. Sweet caramel and fruit aroma with some molassas. Sweet caramel flavor with some light hops. Medium full body with moderate carbonation
BelgianBeerGal (1276), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jan 16, 2009 Updated: Nov 7, 20092008 local bottle. Christmas beer that tasted very heavily of Christmas tree. The aroma and flavour were dominated by spruce and pine hops. I could not really find the spice and caramel notes. A little chocolate and coffee but very little compared to the hops. Okay but not my favourite of the style. leeburg (147), Juneau, Alaska, USA Jan 13, 2009 Sampled at Bier One in Newport, OR. Pretty beer, dark red-amber with a thin white head and nice lacing. Taking others’ word for the nose, couldn’t capture much. Flavors were roasty and dark fruit, but with some nutty and leathery dimensions too. Lightly bitter at the end. Satisfying.
