Of all the winterbrews, this is perhaps the easiest for everyone at the party to enjoy. I’d almost call it the ’candy’ winter brew, because the fruity, flavorful taste almost borders on a simple malt beverage, but the hops quickly return it to the beer catagory. I won’t buy it in cases next year, but I’ll get a couple bottles to enjoy.

I liked it, but it’s not my favorite seasonal of Northwest beer.

This is a winter seasonal strong ale. Very high alchy content, and noticable. Good malty flavor with a hint of hops. A nice ’warm me up.’

A yummy seasonal brew though the taste varies ever so slightly from season to season.

The aroma is a hoppy, dusty old books, strong pine, chocolate. If that looks like an incredible mess of aroma, I’d agree but I’m finding it appealing with some challenged glee. Ooh this is nice... Challenging and good. The feel rocks -- soft and round. Slightly astringent finish. This is a much more appealing proposition for a ’winter warmer’ than a spiced brew for me. And this goes great with itself.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2006 Beautiful glowing ruby color. Thick and sticky off-white foam. Very nice aroma of dates, phenols, and fruitcake. Cherry candyish and great balance of dryly and briskly earthy malts and forceful hop bitterness. Bottle conditioned and rather satisfying. Solid winter brew.

This is my favorite winter warmer brew. Unique chocolate-covered bananna flavor, with tons of malt and a surprisingly strong fush of hops at the end. The perfect beer for a cold winter’s night.
