Pretty beer, dark red-amber with a thin white head and nice lacing. Taking others’ word for the nose, couldn’t capture much. Flavors were roasty and dark fruit, but with some nutty and leathery dimensions too. Lightly bitter at the end. Satisfying. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2009 After being unpleasantly surprised by my previous beer being spiced I decided to embrace spiced beer full on and open one of these up. Then I learned it wasn’t spiced. I guess that actually makes me happy. Dark brown pour with a very distinct coco powder and caramel aroma. The flavor is very chocolaty with a nice hop bitterness. Nice balance between the sweet chocolate and caramel flavors and bitter finish. I dig it. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brownish-red with a thick, bubbly, off-white head. Sweet and sharp aroma, of malt, dark fruits, and hops. Taste is sharp, of malt, fruit, hops, and pine. Lingering sharpness. Tasty. scooterbub (332), Lander, Wyoming, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark red-brown with a large, clingy, pillowy, frothy, tan head that slowly fades. Taste is of malt, caramel, hops, fruit, citrus and some alcohol(is more apparent as it warms). Fairly sweet, with a dry finish. Has some bitterness to it. Well balanced and easy to drink. Similar aroma, but some alcohol comes through. A pretty good winter beer, especially when it is on sale (picked a 6 pack up for about $6). jedimasternick (96), Tucson, Arizona, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 1, 2009 2008 Bottle. Poured a deep brown color with ruby highlights and a thick beige head that slowly receded and left nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, some light roast, toffee, a bit of fruitiness (orange, apricot), and some light hoppiness. Smooth, lightly bitter entry leads into a moderately sweet maltiness with some caramel and toffee, as well as a moderate nuttiness that transitions into a soft fruitiness (orange and tangerine) paired with a moderate earthy hoppiness and some soft caramel undertones. Low carbonation and smooth on the palate. Nice beer. ericandersnavy (1051), crossroads, Texas, USA
