Commercial Description:
Jubelale is classified as a "Strong Ale" or an "English Olde Ale," and has ties to the traditional Celebration Ales of England. Characterized by a very large malt body and pronounced bitterness, Jubelale contains five different varieties of hops and a healthy amount of caramel. The perfect ale for surviving the long, cold nights of winter. Our tradition is having a different local artist design our Jubelale label & packaging each year. October - December - draft and bottles

Beer poors deep amber with a slight white head. The aroma of the beer is very mild and a bit disapointing. The flavor of the beer is of citrus hops with a bit of maltiness present. The palate is very full which is nice. Overall the beer is good but not what I expected for a holiday beer.

Bottle. Pours dark orange-mahogany with an off-white head. Aroma is floral bouquet with herbal tinges. Flavor starts with citrus, oranges, lemon, kumquat, then descends into a rather sharp, spicy hop flavor. Finishes quite bitter and very fresh. As a hophead, this was a juicy treat. For any one else, I admit Deschutes has overdone the hop-bitterness.

APPEARANCE: Clear ruby with a small creamy head. The head dissipated rather quickly down to a nice skim. AROMA: Caramely toffey, toasted aromas FLAVOR: Sweet Dark caramel and toffey flavors to start, slight bitterness later to balance. The hops are there, but very understated. PALATE: Medium to full bodied. Well carbonated. A nice textured beer. OVERALL IMPRESSION: I enjoy drinking this ale. It is full flavored and balanced. Definately one I will have again. Serving type: bottle

Sample at December 12, 2008 Beer Club meeting. Not sure what the hype is about this one. Not that its bad, but seems underdone for a winter/strong ale. More spice, more strength, please! Regardless, a solid beer. Great artwork. Nice head on this one. Very frothy, cream colored. Amber colored body. Something smells like BO - hope its not me. Caramel flavor with light spices and a bitter palate. A solid brew, but nothing unique.

Foggy amber, almost brown pour. Whitish head with some stickiness to it. Obvious scents of caramel malt, spice and piney hops. Flavor confirms the aromas. Pretty lively in the mouth, medium body and carbonation. Not necessarily anything in this not to like, but would have liked to see a bit more caramel, chocolate tones. All it in all pretty good.

Delicious! Thanx Mark! Poured a deep, burnt caramel type color. Thick head. Spiced aromas with sweetness. Tastes slightly like a belgium brew with some twists and turns. Nice malt to hops balance. Good beer for the cold winter season.

Bottle pours a semi hazy dark maroon color with a medium lived beige head. Smell is toffee, tart malt and belgian yeast like spiced character. Smells like a dubbel. Taste is very reminiscent of a dubbel as well, with some dark fruity malt flavors and a yeasty spice component that I am not too big on. Good rich body and soft to medium carbonation, but the flavor is not my favorite. Still well done though.
