3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Quite different for a winter ale. Cool reddish pour w/ a big foamy head that leaves lacing. Aroma is well blended concoction of malt, hop, & some spice. Unfortunately I donít get much spice at all in the flavor. Itís malt heavy upfront & finishes w/ bitterness. Itís solid!

Rating #797 - December 2, 2013 - 8oz on tap at Beer Revolution. Opaque brown pour with a bubbly tan foam that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is bold, earthy, clove, nutmeg, turmeric. Lightly carbonated. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied, this packs a punch. Strong alcohol character balanced by the gentle bitterness of the zesty, earthy hops. Hint of toffee and chocolate, plum, raisin, allspice. Absolutely superb.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice mahogany color with a creamy tan head manages to sell me that this brew could actually resemble an english strong ale, combined with the bready-dominated nose. Taste is richly malty, a little nutty, some mild spice, just a touch of citrus, and nicely balanced by reasonable hopping. Not a bad year for this seasonal brew (which is a bit different every year).

Review #400 and this is definitely worthy.12oz. bottle pours a reddish copper color with a medium fluffy off white head that leaves great lacing. Smells of citrus, caramel, dark fruit and roasted malt. Tastes of all the same things in the smell and also noticed the chicory the used in the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and chewy with medium to light carbonation and a semi dry finish. This is one of my favorite winter warmers. Very complex, balanced, and full of great flavor. I also like the artwork that changes every year.
