Bottle to glass. Pours a hazy, murky brown with thin khaki head. Aroma is caramel malts, honey, a faint fruitiness of rasins and cherries. A bit of pepper. Taste is malty, slightly sweet. Definite rasin and date flavors. Some earthy notes in the aftertaste. Palate is medium body, low carbonation. Overall an interesting beer, just not my favorite style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Appearance: finger of khaki brown head, diminishes quickly, burnt amber color through light, cloudy, good lace. Aroma: nut, caramel, light roast coffee, faint sweet fruit, light earthy yeast, floral and subdued orange citrus hops. Palate: medium-full body, average carbonation, dry finish, oily and sticky carbonation. Taste: mild sweetness at the front, settles in right after you swallow, and finishes with a light and lasting bitterness. Overall, very complex and deep. Very well done.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a large beige head. Nice aromas of caramel, spices, ginger and biscuit. Flavors of caramel, cinnamon, raisin, brown sugar and bready notes. Subtle hoppiness. Clean mouthfeel with slight oiliness. Pretty nice.

Pours from tap a nice red/brown with just a bit of white head. Not much aroma but what’s there is earthy. Taste is a bit hoppy and very dry. There’s a woody aftertaste that lingers. Really nice carbonation and thickness.

Deschutes Jubelale has a medium, beige head, a rust-red, opaque appearance, and some lacing left behind. The aroma is of rich, full, fruit cake, dates, dried fruit, some alcohol, cocoa powder, and cookies. Taste is of all those elements, plus strong hop bitterness and dark bread crust. Mouthfeel is medium, and Deschutes Jubelale finishes on the dry side and sip-able. RJT

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from 12oz into a goblet. Medium-dark brown with a medium tan head. Nose is a mixed blend of sweet aromas and a bit of spice, quite busy, but oh so nice. Taste is on the sweet side, full bodied beer, nice, thick and a bit chewy. Good stuff for the holidays.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Nice looking clear orange brown brew wtih light tan head. Aroma is doughy earth and a little zesty spice. Taste is a great malty celebration that unfolds on the tongue like a lightshow unfolding before your eyes - sweet, earthy, dry spice, a final huzzah of mild hops at the end. very tasty.

On tap at Barrel House, pours a clear dark brownish red with a creamy tan head, aroma is very roasty with a ton of Carmel and malt with a little bit of spice, the flavor has a really sweet front end with lots of caramel in the finish, spices mixed in as well, not bad.

At the French Market. Lovely stuff. Rich fruity ale, slightly spiced but not overly so, like a brown ale but with more boozeiness. Serving: Tap
