| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Very deep amber in color. Aroma is sweet, roasty and malty. Flavor is fairly hoppy. Finish provides a roasty malt taste. Interesting combination of the hops and the roastiness. bhensonb (4404), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2006 Chocolate toffe aroma with a long lasting tan head. Deep red copper color. Fruity caramel flavor, passage of yeast, with a balance of hop offsetting malt at the finish, which seems to include molasses. More malt than hop, but there’s a deal of hop. In the end there seems to be coffee in the mouth rather than chocolate. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2002 Nice maltiness with a big hop bite. You can definitely taste the caramel throughout. A very enoyable Strong Ale, which should age very nicely with time. Sickboy282 (1101), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2002 Of all the winterbrews, this is perhaps the easiest for everyone at the party to enjoy. I’d almost call it the ’candy’ winter brew, because the fruity, flavorful taste almost borders on a simple malt beverage, but the hops quickly return it to the beer catagory. I won’t buy it in cases next year, but I’ll get a couple bottles to enjoy. DaSilky1 (2033), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Pours crimson with a thin but solid sheet of froth that has lacey tendencies. The nose is of musty cherry, vivid canteloupe, pineapple, and candle wax. Full body of melon-like flavors to the point even tasting the canteloupe seeds. Bitterness is strong, biting all over the mouth in the finish...mouthfeel is a bit chalky...the fruit cocktail flavors are nice, but I think the bitterness takes away from the fruitiness. I seemed to like this beer more a few hours ago when I drank a couple bottles sanz analysis...now with some thought, I find a bit of criticism, but too much...still a nicer 6er to have around during the holidays. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 23, 2003 Hops and toasted malts blend in the nose. Beer pours a gorgeous red/brown. Hops fight to get through the thick, roasty malt flavors, finally finish with a good wampf of bitterness.
