COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark, malty celebration ale with layered flavors and beautifully balanced hopping. Jubelale pours deep garnet in color, medium bodied, with notes of chicory, earth, spice and fruit. To beer lovers, it’s like Yule fire and family.

Bottle. 2008 batch. Pours a clear, deep walnut color with a one-inch light tan head. The inviting aroma is of caramel and nutmeg/cinnamon. Flavor is malty upfront, but the hops keeps it from being too sweet. Nice caramel tones and good spice flavor give this brew character. There is a bit of bitterness in the flavor that lingers--but in a good way. Soft mouthfeel. I’d like to pair this brew with a good beef stew and sourdough bread on a cold night.

Not overly enthusiastic about this one, but it not a bad showing from Deschutes. Does have some fruit cake elements going on, as is common with these things. Not bad, not great. 12oz bottle.

You never know what you’ll get out of Christmas beers. Some folks go the spiced rout and some just make a strong ale while others just do some random thing. I prefer this to fall where everyone just makes a shit spiced beer and calls it a day. This is some sort of strong malt-forward strong amber brew. I am not sure what style I’d call it. It is a gorgeous beer w/ a dark amber color and an extremely creamy looking off white head. There is a touch of citrus rind and slightly piney gingerlike character to the nose from the hops which is backed up by a bit of toasted malt goodness. The texture is nice and creamy and just slightly rich and heavy which works well here but might be a bit much were this a bit more bitter. As it warms, dried fruit notes come out which compliments the sweetness implied by the malts. It finishes pretty dry though and drinks just about right for a beer of its gravity. I can get behind a beer like this w/ slightly higher than usual gravity but having enough flavor to justify it.

12 oz bottle pours dark brown with a red tint. Lots of thick foamy head. Malty aroma, a little sweet. Taste is caramel malts with a solid hop presence, Bread, toasty, and piney. A little spicy. Not bad.

Pours a dark copperish, amber in color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma contains earthy malts, spices, toffee, raisins, and apples. It contains enough to give off somewhat of a holiday feel. The taste is very heavy in spices. There is apple, orange, raisin, bread, toffee, and some candyish impressions as well. There is some sweetness with a mild tart touch. The aftertaste is a lingering flavor of spices. Medium bodied, with a thicker texture, and some mild carbonation. Not bad for a holiday offering.

Very dark amber pour with inch or so of khaki head that dissipated quickly to a bit of suds. Scent of burnt brown sugar, a bit of spruce. Low carbonation, oily mouthfeel, dry finish. Taste is a bit sprucey, deep carmel malt, indistinguishable bitter toward finish and somewhat astringent. Average malty beer.

lively, bitter, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, hazy, brown, red Paired with italian sausage lasagna. The bitterness countered the sweetness of the tomato and sausage. The beer had enough body to it to be balanced against the heavy cheeses within the lasagna. Not an expected pairing, but it worked.
