5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Nice to have rated this as the 667 rating....get it off the devil, big toffe malts in aroma some maple wood character with some northwest style hops. Flavor equally as malty with slight maple syrup and maple wood notes. Finishes without any sweetness just malty and slight earthy hop finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014 Reserve - wax sealed 650mL bottle
Pours a murky bronze body, holding a thick beige ring of foam.
Nose is intense, lots of aged character - cooked citrus, dried fruits, nutmeg spiciness, Madeira, subtle nutty almost Rancio-like character.
Thick bodied, smooth, low carbonation, long warming finish.
Rich, quite complex - sultana & dried fig, treacle & Madeira, lots of earthy spice & stewed fruits. Long finish, reasonably high bitterness.
Serious beer indeed, does seem a touch oxidised.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared bomber, poured to tulip snifter. Murky, light brown/copper with a thick creamy head that faded quickly. Complex taste: oak, caramel, toffee, dark fruit, port, and more. . . and they work nicely together on the palate. Smooth with no hint of an 11 ABV. A great beer!

On tap at John B Pub in Coquitlam. A rich reddish copper colour and light tan head with sweet fruity and malty nose. Incredibly rich on the palate. The barrel aging is evident. Nice. 4.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Simply put, one of the finest beers Iíve ever tasted. I had to go to Portland, OR to get it, all the way from Brooklyn!! I would do it again. Itís just that good. Purchased from Deschutes Brewhouse in downtown PDX. Poured into a snifter, big beige/tan head, plenty of lacing too as it went down. So much in the aroma- malt, wood, earth, I detect some maple or toffee as well dried fruits too. I let it sit for a while to raise itís temperature. Iím so glad I did this, as the beer just kept getting bettercaramel, earthy, Taste is equally if not even more complex, as it warmed more and more came out. I got lots of sweet but mellow alcohol initially, but later I tasted heavy earthy sweetness. The aroma of dried fruit, toffee, caramel, these come through in the sweet tastes of the brew. I donít detect any hop notes anywhere (aroma or otherwise) I love it when barleywines err away from the hops. I slowly relished this brew. It took me an hour and a half on a rainy PDX afternoon to finish this. When I was done I wanted another. An outstanding beer.
