3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
8/02/2014: Deschutes Mirror Mirror (2014 Reserve)... Attractive shiny copper color with a beige crown (not that anybody really cares). Sugary and malty; sweet, but not cloying; and bit candy-ish with just enough bite in the finish to keep it from being overly sweet. Honestly, this beer need 1-3 years of aging; some oxidation would do wonders for this beer.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
The date on the bottle reads "Best after 02/24/15." However, I have another bottle so Iíll be sure to note the changes in this sometime after that date.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a decent looking dark amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. A nice thin lacing sticks finely to the glass.
The smell starts off with a nice caramel malt to it and eventually allows a nice blended tobacco (English Barleywine, maybe?) to cocoa to vanilla to light citrus all combining themselves fairly nicely.
The taste was sticky sweet through all of the previously mentioned flavors smacking themselves together in a sticky sort of mess, but a mess in a good way.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium with a fairly good sipping quality about it. I almost wanted to straight up just drink this, but honestly for the most part, this one is a sipper. Though the carbonation comes across fairly subdued, thereís a good deal of nice creamy smoothness all over.
Overall, this was a really nice Barleywine probably closer to the English style. I would definitely love to have this again and canít wait to open up my other bottle.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from bomber with josh. I canít recall a better barleywine. Excellent mouthfeel. Great flavor without overwhelming or syrupy-ness. Initially, a sweetness with heavy malts, slight bitter finish. Excellent red (with direct light) & brown color, sticky offwhite head that reduces but doesnít disappear. 9.91 bd. 9.95 joshk

660 Ml bottle
Thanks to Owen for the bottle
Redish orange color, off white head. Good head and lacing
Nose is wine, caramel, figs, brown sugar, oak, and touches of sourness.
Not infected but has a red wine sourness to it. Very well balanced taste. Just notes of sourness from the barrel, caramel, figs, sugar, dark fruits. Well hidden alcohol and easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Got a bottle in a trade. This pours a bright red color with a light head. A big dark cherry note aroma. Flavors meet the aroma with the cherry. Still very smooth. Intricate flavors blend nicely here. A lot of caramel and sweet syrup flavors. The alcohol was showing more towards the back end. Good stuff.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
July 1st Sunday. I have been wanting to try this for a while, but was sadly dissappointed by the sour nose and taste. I didnít note the vintage, but damn if it wasnít infected. Not seeing any other recent rates indicating the offputting notes, so perhaps this was several years old. Anyway, will certainly seek out again to correct this placeholder rating.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber poured into snifter. Pours a murky caramel brown with a thin white head that fades into a pencil thin collar. No lacing. Smells of figs, caramel, candied fruit, vanilla, and booze. The aroma is lovely. Flavor is exactly as it smells: figs, candy, booze, a touch of vanilla, caramel. Very smooth and well balanced, with a hidden ABV that invites another glass. Tasty beer worth aging.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2014 bottle. Pours a cloudy dark reddish-brown with a small head that fades to a thin ring. Aromas are brown sugar, burnt caramel, figs, molasses, strawberries, and candied oranges. Tastes awesome. Big brown sugar sweetness that is somehow not cloying at all. Candied citrus and red fruit throughout. Nice light booziness in the back end to help calm the sweetness. Caramel lingers a bit with burnt sugar. Medium body. I liked this more than I though I would. Very good barleywine. Could age very well too.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a bomber into a snifter a dark reddish color with a tan head.
Aroma is sugared caramels. Dark fruit not as much. Scent is heavenly.
Flavor is as smooth as a pond at sunrise....(couldnít resist) Sweet brown sugar with caramelized figs. Boozy yet its subtle. Definitely a sipper. Way better than average balanced in its flavor profile with carbonation. Great brew to share with friends or by oneís self when the day needs to be forgotten.
