Totally superb. Barrel characteristics stand out a little more to me in the aroma than in the taste. Slightly thin mouth feel for such a big beer, but otherwise amazing. Deschutes knocked this one out of the park.

Bottle shared at Natifest ’14. Poured a dark copper color with a moderate frothy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex roasted malt, earthy dark fruit aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer.

On draft. Muddy brown with a tiny bit of off white head around the rim. Malty smells, bready, caramel, brown sugar, savory, barrel. Sweet caramel, raisin bread tastes, vanilla, plum, cinnamon, a little alcohol burn. Good rich sweet flavors with some barrel character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

8/02/2014: Deschutes Mirror Mirror (2014 Reserve)... Attractive shiny copper color with a beige crown (not that anybody really cares). Sugary and malty; sweet, but not cloying; and bit candy-ish with just enough bite in the finish to keep it from being overly sweet. Honestly, this beer need 1-3 years of aging; some oxidation would do wonders for this beer.

Bomber at NF14 - malty toasted Booze. Sweet. I’m aging this so I can’t wait to try it again when it tastes better. Nutty aftertaste.

The date on the bottle reads "Best after 02/24/15." However, I have another bottle so I’ll be sure to note the changes in this sometime after that date. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a decent looking dark amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. A nice thin lacing sticks finely to the glass. The smell starts off with a nice caramel malt to it and eventually allows a nice blended tobacco (English Barleywine, maybe?) to cocoa to vanilla to light citrus all combining themselves fairly nicely. The taste was sticky sweet through all of the previously mentioned flavors smacking themselves together in a sticky sort of mess, but a mess in a good way. On the palate, this one sat right at a medium with a fairly good sipping quality about it. I almost wanted to straight up just drink this, but honestly for the most part, this one is a sipper. Though the carbonation comes across fairly subdued, there’s a good deal of nice creamy smoothness all over. Overall, this was a really nice Barleywine probably closer to the English style. I would definitely love to have this again and can’t wait to open up my other bottle.
