hiddenvariable (182), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 28, 2008 on tap at the toronado in san francisco. pours a cloudy reddish amber. burnt brown sugar smell, lots of caramelly malts, and a lot of earthy, citrus, and floral hops. earthy caramel taste, a solid citrus hop character, and slight notes of cherries. sweet finish, with a smallish hint of bitter, chewy sticky mouthfeel, medium to full body, and a bit of carbonation. i had been to a barleywine festival the previous day, and this would’ve been in the top 4 or 5.
