This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably “right.”

UPDATED: APR 18, 2008 Bottle. Amber body, good off-white head, fruity nose. Fruity hops, some sweetness, a bit grainy when it warms, but a pretty nice pale.

Aroma is interesting. Malty and herbal. Color is cloudy amber with a thin head. Tastes of eucalyptus and hops. It is smooth and wet, which is nice, but overall, I was unimpressed.

Refreshing honey and molasses aroma, with a powerful honey flavor with 60-40 malt-hop balance. Nice bitterness on the finish. Excellent ale, although maybe slightly thicker on the tongue than I would have liked.

Bottled. Excellent pale ale. Poured a slightly cloudy orange with a light tan head. With a stuffed up nose, I could still detect a slightly floral aroma. Bitter hops taste, with good citrus and slight floral notes. Slightly bitter finish, but otherwise, goes down smooth, with a low level of carbonation. Typically excellent Deschutes effort.

12oz bottle: pours and orange amber in color with minimal white head, aroma malty with hints of caramel and citrus hops. is pretty full flavored for a APA mostly malty with hints of citrus hops and caramel.

Slightly better than typical pale ale. Definite Cascade flavor. Grassy, lemony palate. Lots of flavor.

Not as hoppy as expected, very drinkable session beer. I’ve had both the bottled version and the cask-conditioned and the latter was an absolute treat. The Cascade hops come through beautifully, but do not overpower the slightly caramelly maltiness. Beginning to think this is becoming my old standby beer.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Bottled: Pours and hazed orange amber with a 1 finger sticky cap...laces well....modestly carbonated. Nose is standard for Pacific NW Pales; Grapefruity, woody, caramel malts. Nice slick mouth feel, mellow amalgam of the grapefruit-wood-bittering-sweet malts of the Pac NW APA..nicely executed...mellow and non aggressive with full flavor and satisfying character. A standard for the style

On tap. I feel calm and quiet like I stand at mirror pond that I’ve never seen. Taste Kocha (English Tea) or fresh white wine with roast barrel nuance finish. also feel good water. No bad stress going through mouth. I think beer was slightly tired but still keep good condition. I wish I drink it there in Oregon.

Bready and bisquity with lots of honey sweetness and a citric hop taste in the finish. Fruity aftertaste... lots of flavor for a pale ale.
