This is base camp, where any craft brew exploration begins. A distinct hop nose and hop-forward flavor make Mirror Pond the quintessential Pale Ale. It is aromatically complex, multi-layered, and unmistakably “right.”

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2007 Dark for a pale ale, a brown shade of gold and hazy. Lots of apricot flavor, not so bitter. More like an English Pale Ale. [Tasted next to a Anderson Valley Poleeko Gold Pale Ale] The Poleeko is much lighter in color, and citrusy sweet in flavor. The Mirror Pond has more malt backbone and a full bodied fruity flavor.

Blond color. The aroma is a bit fruity and resiny. Dry but pleasant toffee and malt flavor; strong bitterness, with some good hop quality. Good.

2010-03-26, draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver, 7-4-7-4-15=37
Hazy amber color. Nice hop-fruity aroma, apricots. Reasonable toffee flavor, drier in the finish; good bitterness, quite aromatic, more fruity than resiny. Pleasant and well drinkable.

Cloudy amber color. Nice sweet hoppy aroma, resiny and fruity. There is some sweet toffeish flavor, but a bit dry mouthfeel. At least there is a good hopping, strong and a bit resiny and fruity (apricots). Pleasant.

Very nice little ale. Not usuallu a big cascade fan but this one does not seem to have tha hard citrus edge of other beers which promi9nanlty use cascade.

I’ve had this one so often I can’t believe I haven’t rated it yet. Pours a cloudy copper color with a nice white head. Strong aroma of flowers and hops. Flavor is, complete, bitter and hoppy. Finish is full and hearty with a very nice hoppy aftertaste. Pound for pound one of the best IPAs out there. Deschutes has yet to let me down.

(Draught) Sampled at a Sushi restaurant on Pioneer Square called Tig Asian Tapas Bar in Seattle on October 17, 2007. Pours a foamy white head with a cloudy orange body. Nose of oranged and vegetables. Flavour is mild and subdued with a lemon finish. Uneventful.

A reliable pale ale with good hopping, and body. Nice fruity notes. This beer is always on tap around portland and cases of it found everywhere. A solid pale ale.

This beer poured a nice reddish-amber color with good head formation of tiny bubbles that hung around for awhile, and then gradually dissipated to a scummy coating. Aroma is definitely discernible, but is fairly mild with some hop fruitiness. Flavor is balanced, with some nice maltiness accompanied by some very pleasant hop fruitiness. Mouthfeel is a quite light and pleasant. This beer is highly drinkable...it’ll scratch your hop itch, but light enough to have a few. Definitely recommended.

Beautiful copper color, with a moderate head from the bottle. Great hop taste for a pale ale, with no off aftertaste. No overpowering hoppy aroma, but very sweet taste intially, followed by a slight bitterness. No lingering flavor. A personal favorite, especially after a long day at work or in the fall.
