illidurit (851), Santa Cruz, California, USA Mar 14, 2009 Translucent tangerine color with a frothy off-white head. Pulpy, unripe grapefruit aroma with a little bit of caramel and a little pale malt. Flavor is pale malty with grapefruit drupelets and some light esters. Maybe even a hint of cantaloupe rind? Biscuity malt rather than the more typical (and tasty) caramel flavor in most pale ales. Mouthfeel is medium-light with an understated carbonation that makes for a smooth sip. High drinkability but low complexity and a little too weak in all areas. aaronbr (49), Palo Alto, California, USA Mar 11, 2009 Poured from bottle. Great orange-copper color. Slight sweetness, mostly hops on the nose. Reminded me of Sierra Nevada when I first tried it. This is one of my go-to pale ales. War4soccer (115), , Nevada, USA Mar 8, 2009 bottle..simaler to hop trip just alittle less on the hops.. great deschutes flavour throughout Nebulor (109), , California, USA Mar 6, 2009 A slight caramel malt aroma with florals.
Pours a light amber color with a copper and apricot hue, minimal white head, sediment even suspension throughout, and has some action.
A barley grain malt taste with a hint of caramel, slight butter background, and pine, grapefruit and other floral flavors of hops.
Light/medium bodied, resinous and slightly buttery, with lively soft carbonation.
A session beer that is well hopped with a tasty bitter finish. savnac (394), Palmer, Alaska, USA Mar 5, 2009 Updated: Apr 25, 2009Aroma is hoppy, good northwest citrus and floral scent. Deep orange in color with a nice white head. The flavor is nicely balanced with bitter hops and slightly sweet malt. Good refreshing beer, a bit more robust than the average pale ale. We got a keg of this for our wedding. **Update** I finally had a chance to have this beer on cask and it was amazing. The aroma became more intense and the flavor became more balanced. zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA Mar 1, 2009 Decent pale ale. Great summer beer in my opinion. Medium head, white in color. Not a ton to the aroma to really pick out, malty. dwaggs2 (531), Lee’s Summit, Missouri, USA Feb 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours a vibrant orange color with a decent head. Does leave some lacing in the glass. Aroma is hops, oranges, lemon, pine, and grapefruit. Flavor explodes on the tongue. Hop bitterness is there, but all the flavors make this a good brew. Great beer hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Feb 26, 2009 Pours a burnt orange with a small white head and tuns of carbonation. Aroma is of bready, cascade hops coming through on the nose, grapefruit, oranges, lemon, tangerine, and white pepper. Tastes bready as well with lots of tangerines and oranges coming through with grapefruit and lemon on the finish. Yeast in there as well. Hints of melon, malt coming through. Some lacing and lively carbonation. Nice pale ale.
