Had a very subdued character, at first I thought my order had been switched to a lager. Aroma was slight, but present citrus. Significant hop flavor, as one would expect from an APA. Somehow this was earthier though. Body was light-medium, finish was more abrupt than I prefer. In all I’d try it again, but I wasn’t particularly impressed. ZiggyG (131), Gladstone, Oregon, USA

Pours amber with a nice white head that leaves a thin layer of lace all across the beer. Nice hop smell very much on the citrus side. Taste is bitter pine and earth hops with more sweetness than usual in a pale, some caramel type sugar notes. Mouthfeel is light to medium with medium carbonation. Seems very appropriate to the overall beer. This is a nice pale, and another great offering from deschutes. AmEricanbrew (1808), Doing Rogue, Louisiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 9, 2008 12 oz. bottle pours a amber hued liquid with a decent head that quickly fades to a sheen. Has a very slight sweet caramel smell with a whiff of hops. Has a medium body, with a taste of caramel sweetness followed by smidgin of floral hop bitterness to finish. A very easy drinking, smooth beer - maybe too smooth. 2004 RCL (1457), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Nice grapefruit aroma. A bit light in the flavor department, though. Enough hops, but I would like just a touch more malt sweetness. SamGamgee (1429), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2008 12oz bottle. Lightly hazy, orange-amber. Aroma of sweet caramel, subtle hops, some pine, and some pineapple. Citrus flavors that are lightly bitter, pretty dry on the whole. Subtle and balanced profile. Light and clean palate. Very sessionable and balanced, but ordinary. a10555 (124), West Chester, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 31, 2007 The first time I drank this stuff, I was a craft beer virgin and I hated it. I went back and tried a bottle, and still not my favorite but it was good. Nice auburn color and in your face hop flavor. Real grainy fell in the mouth and that is ultimately the thing that turns me off a bit. Won’t rush to try again, but it was okay franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA

Smells of strong hops and citrus with mild rind and malt. Tastes wonderful of hops citrus and a nice balance of malt. Feel light and crisp in the mouth with great carbonation. Another sessionable beer which I have done myself in with tonight. Delightful and recommended.
